Մեղրիի հարցի վերաբերյալ բանակցային փաստաթղթերի հրապարակումը, համապատասխան աղմկահարույց ռեպորտաժը բոլորովին էլ ոչ պատահաբար տեղի ունեցան հունվարի 31-ին Նիկոլ Փաշինյանի մեծ ասուլիսից առաջ։ Վստահաբար, այն սարքվել էր, որպեսզի ասուլիսում դառնա ամենաթրենդային և քննարկվող թեման, Փաշինյանին էլ լեզու տա, այդ օրը դրա մասին խոսելու։ Առավել ևս, նման ռեպորտաժներով ու նարատիվներով Փաշինյանն ու իր իշխանությունը հանրությանը նոր դավադրության են նախապատրաստում, իբր գործող իշխանությունը չի հանձնում Մեղրին կամ «միջանցքը», այլ ժամանակին արդեն այն հանձնած է եղել։ Փաստացի, Փաշինյանը ֆոն է նախապատրաստում հետագա գործողությունների համար։

Ասուլիսում Փաշինյանը բավական ծավալուն խոսել էր այդ մասին, խոստացել ինչ-որ փաստաթուղթ էլ ինքը հրապարակել, բայց հանկարծ փոխել էր թեման, և «ոտքը գազից հետ էր քաշել»։ «Քաղպայմանագրում», ինչպես և ամերիկացիների այն թևի մոտ, որը փոխանցել էր փաստաթղթերը, այս հանգամանքը տարակուսանք է առաջացրել։

Դեռ նախորդ վարչակազմի օրոք են համապատասխան փաստաթղթերը փոխանցվել Փաշինյանին՝ վերջինիս խնդրանքով, այն նպատակադրությամբ, որ ոնց ցանկանում է օգտագործի, թե՛ ներքին դաշտում խաղալու, պոտենցիալ հակառակորդներին ոչնչացնելու, թե՛ հետագայում Ադրբեջանին միջանցք տալու հարցում հող նախապատրաստելու համար։ Եվ Փաշինյանը, ըստ էության, խնդրել էր հենց ասուլիսից առաջ հրապարակել դրանք։ Այժմ լուրջ տարակուսանք է առաջացրել, թե ինչն է խանգարել Նիկոլին ավելին ասել և անել։
