Միացյալ Նահանգների Սենատը միաձայն հաստատել է 53-ամյա հանրապետական Մարկո Ռուբիոյին ԱՄՆ պետքարտուղարի պաշտոնում։ Ռուբիոյի թեկնածությունը պաշտպանել է 99 սենատոր, այդ թվում՝ ինքը։
Նա այդ պաշտոնում առաջադրվել է նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփի կողմից և դարձել 47-րդ նախագահի կաբինետի առաջին հաստատված անդամը։
Պետքարտուղարի պաշտոնում ընտրվելուց հետո Ռուբիոն լրագրողներին ասել է, որ չի կարող ժամանակահատված սահմանել Ուկրաինայում պատերազմի ավարտի համար, սակայն առաջարկել է, որ կողմերից յուրաքանչյուրը գնա զիջումների, ինչը ցանկացած հակամարտություն լուծելու բնական մասն է։
«Ամեն անգամ, երբ ավարտում ենք հակամարտությունը երկու կողմի միջև, որոնցից ոչ մեկը չի կարող հասնել իր առավելագույն նպատակին, կողմերից յուրաքանչյուրը պետք է հրաժարվի ինչ-որ բանից»,- ինչպես փոխանցում է CNN-ը, ասել է Ռուբիոն։
Նա չի հստակեցրել, թե ինչ զիջումների մասին կարող է խոսք լինել, սակայն նշել է, որ վերջնական որոշումը պետք է կայացնեն Ուկրաինան և Ռուսաստանը։ Ռուբիոն նաև ասել է, որ պատերազմի ավարտը Դոնալդ Թրամփի առաջնահերթությունն է։
«Կարելի է հուսալ, որ որոշ հիմքեր արդեն դրված են, բայց դժվար կլինի։ Ռուսաստանը ագրեսոր է այս հակամարտությունում, բայց այս պատերազմը պետք է դադարեցվի»,- ավելացրել է նա։
