Երեքշաբթի օրը ԱՄՆ-ի օդերևութաբաններն ու պետական պաշտոնյաները նախազգուշացումներ են հրապարակել առողջությանը սպառնացող վտանգների և էլեկտրաէներգիայի անջատումների վերաբերյալ, քանի որ «հազվագյուտ ձմեռային փոթորիկը» տիրել է երկրի հարավն ու արևելքը։ Այս մասին հայտնում է NBC News-ը:
«Շատ ցուրտ օդի զանգվածը կպահպանվի Միացյալ Նահանգների հարավային և արևելյան շրջանների մեծ մասում առաջիկա մի քանի օրվա ընթացքում»,- երեքշաբթի առավոտյան իր կանխատեսման մեջ հայտնել է Եղանակի ազգային ծառայությունը (NWS)՝ նախազգուշացնելով հանրությանը առատ ձյան, սառը անձրևների հնարավորության և «խոշոր ձմեռային փոթորկի» մասին:
Մի քանի նահանգներ արտակարգ դրություն են հայտարարել, օդերևութաբաններն ակնկալում են, որ շրջանների մեծ մասում ջերմաստիճանը ցածր կլինի հունվարի ամսվա միջին ջերմաստիճանից 20-30 աստիճանով:
Սպասվում է, որ միջինարևմտյան շրջաններում ջերմաստիճանը կնվազի՝ հասնելով միանիշ թվի:
«Չորեքշաբթի առավոտյան հնարավոր են շատ ռեկորդային ցածր ցուցանիշներ, հատկապես Մեքսիկական Ծոցի ափի երկայնքով և Թենեսի հովտում», - ասվում է NWS-ի հայտարարության մեջ:
Պատմական փոթորիկը դրդել է պաշտոնյաներին հանդես գալ հազվագյուտ նախազգուշացումներով, որոնք ավելի հաճախ հանդիպում են հյուսիսում: Մարդկանց հորդորում են զերծ մնալ ճամփորդություններից, համոզվել, որ իրենց մեքենաները ջերմամեկուսացված են և թույլ չտալ խողովակների սառցակալում։
