Չինաստանը կառուցում է «Մեծ արևային պատը»: Արևային էլեկտրակայանները ունեն արտակարգ հատկություն՝ դրանք կարելի է ընդլայնել անսահմանորեն: Այս հատկությունը կիրառելով, Չինաստանի էներգետիկները նախագծել են Կուբուկի անապատում գտնվող էլեկտրակայանը՝ 5 կմ լայնությամբ և 400 կմ երկարությամբ ժապավենով: Առաջին տեղադրված վահանակներն արդեն աշխատում են, և շարունակաբար ավելացնում են նորերը:

Այսօր տեղադրված հզորությունն անցել է 5 ԳՎտ-ից: Իսկ երբ կայանը կավարտվի 2030 թվականին, այն կհասնի 100 ԳՎտ-ի: Համեմատության համար նշենք, որ այժմ գոյություն ունեցող ամենահզոր արևային էլեկտրակայանը, նույնպես Չինաստանում, ունի ընդամենը 8,4 ԳՎտ հզորություն:

Հաշվի առնելով, որ անապատում արևը լուսավորում է 3100 ժամ տարեկան, «Մեծ արևային պատը» կարտադրի տարեկան 180 ՏՎտ/ժամ էլեկտրաէներգիա: Դա բավարար կլինի, որպեսզի Պեկինն ապահովվի ամբողջությամբ: Կուբուկի ավազներում արդեն աշխատում է ավելի փոքր չափսերի «Դզյունմա» էլեկտրակայանը: Նրա վահանակները դարձել են քամու խոչընդոտ, դադարեցրել են էրոզիան և ստվերապատել հողը՝ դարձնելով այն ավելի սառը: Այս պայմաններում նախկինում անհաղորդ հողերը նորից կանաչել են:
