Լոս Անջելեսում մոլեգնող անտառային հրդեհներն արդեն համարվում են ամենակործանարարը Կալիֆորնիա նահանգի պատմության մեջ: Պալիսադեսի և Էաթոնի հրդեհը ոչնչացրել է շուրջ 53 քառակուսի մղոն տարածք՝ մոխրակույտի վերածելով ամբողջական թաղամասեր:
Լոս Անջելեսում ապրող մեր հայրենակիցները MediaHub-ին ասացին, որ աղետից զոհված քաղաքացիների թիվը հասել է 11-ի, կան նաև անհետ կորածներ։ Բարեբախտաբար, նրանց թվում հայեր չկան։
«Իմ ունեցած վերջին տվյալներով՝ հունվարի 7-ին բռնկված հրդեհները մոլեգնում են ավելի քան 15,2 հազար հեկտար տարածքում։ Մենք տարհանվել ենք Լոս Անջելեսի ավելի ապահով շրջաններ, սակայն, այստեղ արդեն 2 հյուրանոց ենք փոխել։ Տներից ոչինչ չենք հասցրել վերցնենք։ Հավատացեք, նույնիսկ տեղյակ չենք՝ մեր տները հրդեհվա՞ծ են, թե՞ ոչ»,- ասում է Հիլդա Ավագյանը։
Հրդեհների հասցրած գույքային վնասներն ահռելի են, անկախ կազմակերպությունների գնահատականներով՝ կարող են հասնել մոտ 150 միլիարդ դոլարի։ Այրվել են ավելի քան 10 հազար շինություններ, այդ թվում՝ դպրոցներ ու եկեղեցիներ։ Ավելի քան 180 հազար մարդ տարհանման հրահանգ է ստացել։ Հրդեհները հասել են նաև հայաշատ քաղաքներ, հայ համայնքի ներկայացուցիչները ևս գույքային վնասներ են կրել։
«Ինչո՞ւ պետք է Կալիֆորնիան պատրաստ չլիներ այս մասշտաբային աղետին։ Իրավիճակն այլ կլիներ, եթե հրդեհի կանխման, տարածման ուղղությամբ կատարվեին ճիշտ քայլեր։ Իհարկե, հիմա մեղադրելու ժամանակը չէ, բայց նահանգային ու քաղաքային իշխանությունների պատճառով մենք կորցրեցինք մեր տարիների ստեղծածը»,- հավելեց Հիլդան։
