Пожары произошли в тех кварталах Пасадены, в которых проживает много армян.  Армянская община понесла большие потери. Об этом заявил в беседе с корреспондентом Новости Армении – NEWS.am духовный лидер церкви «Ай Назовреци» Пасадены Ованес Аладжян, отметив, что два дня назад сгорела, в частности, христианская школа «Саак Месроп», в которой дети изучали армянский язык, историю, религию.

«У нас есть и другие армянские школы. Сегодня узнал, что они временно открыли свои двери перед учениками школы «Саак Месроп», - заявил Аладжян.

По ее словам, эвакуированные армяне временно разместились в гостиницах, домах родственников в близлежащих городах.

Ситуация в Глендейле более спокойная, хотя огонь и приблизился к городу, но там пожаров нет, наблюдается лишь дым. Как отметила в беседе с корреспондентом Новости Армении – NEWS.am мэр Глендейла Элен Асатрян, сегодня утром они опубликовали заявление о том, что граждане, находящиеся в центре поддержки, могут вернуться в свои дома. «Мы закрыли двери центра поддержки в 12 часов, на данный момент в нем нет необходимости. В Глендейле не было огня, надеюсь, и в ближайшее время мы будем в безопасности», - сказала она.

По ее словам, несмотря на это, пока пожар не будет полностью потушен, угроза существует. «Мы получили известие о том, что в ближайшие дни ветер может усилиться. Как город, мы к этому готовы. Мы попросили людей подготовить сумки с предметами первой необходимости», - заключила мэр.
