Մյունխենի Հելմհոլցի համալսարանի գիտնականները պարզել են, որ SARS-CoV-2-ի սպիտակուցը վարակվելուց հետո կարող է պահպանվել գլխուղեղում և ոսկրածուծում մինչև չորս տարի՝ մեծացնելով նեյրոդեգեներատիվ հիվանդությունների ռիսկը: Հետազոտության արդյունքները հրապարակվել են Cell Host & Microbe ամսագրում:

Գիտնականները նման եզրակացության են եկել արհեստական ​​ինտելեկտի վրա հիմնված նորարարական պատկերային մեթոդի կիրառման արդյունքում, որը հնարավորություն է տվել ուսումնասիրել SARS-CoV-2-ի ազդեցությունը ուղեղի վրա։ Նոր մեթոդն օգնում է բջջային կառուցվածքները, մետաբոլիտները և վիրուսային սպիտակուցները պատկերել 3D-ով:

Դոկտոր Չժուի Ռոնգը՝ հետազոտության առաջին հեղինակը, նշել է, որ գլխուղեղում սպիտակուցի կուտակումը կարող է կապված լինել COVID-19-ի նյարդաբանական հետևանքների հետ՝ ներառյալ «երկարատև COVID» և նեյրոդեգեներատիվ հիվանդությունները: Գիտնականները հաշվարկել են, որ սպիտակուցի մշտական ​​առկայությունը կարող է արագացնել ուղեղի ծերացումը, ինչը համարժեք է ուղեղի նորմալ ֆունկցիայի՝ 5-10 տարի կորցնելուն:
