Неформальный саммит СНГ начался в курортном комплексе «Игора» (Ленинградская область). На правах хозяина коллег по Содружеству здесь принимает президент России Владимир Путин.
На встрече он подведет итоги российского председательства в СНГ в 2024 году. После этого, как анонсировали в Кремле, «лидеры смогут пообщаться друг с другом в неформальной обстановке, обменяются мнениями по актуальным международным вопросам»
Вопреки планам, приехать на саммит СНГ смогли руководители не всех стран-участниц. Премьер-министр Армении Никол Пашинян рано утром написал в соцсетях, что вынужден пропустить сегодняшнюю встречу из-за положительного теста на коронавирус. Пока решается вопрос о его участии в завтрашнем саммите Евразийского экономического союза (ЕАЭС).
Президент Азербайджана Ильхам Алиев возвращается в Баку на фоне крушения самолета азербайджанской авиакомпании Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) вблизи казахстанского города Актау.
