Հայաստանի առաջին, երկրորդ և երրորդ նախագահները մերժել են Նիկոլ Փաշինյանի բանավեճի առաջարկը։ Երկրի կառավարումը «ռեալիթի շոու»-ի վերածած Փաշինյանը հայտարարել էր, թե 1994 թվականից ի վեր բանակցային գործընթացը եղել է Լեռնային Ղարաբաղն Ադրբեջանի կազմ վերադարձնելու մասին։ Տեր-Պետրոսյանի, Քոչարյանի և Սերժ Սարգսյանի գրասենյակները հայտարարեցին, որ Փաշինյանը ստում է։

Արդեն երեկոյան Նիկոլ Փաշինյանը գրառմամբ կոչ արեց բանավեճ անել, իսկ մերժում ստանալուց հետո ուղիղ եթերում բացահայտեց, թե որն է իր իրական նպատակը։ «Առաջարկում եմ նրանց ընդունել այս առաջարկը, հակառակ դեպքում հետևությունները կմնան ժողովրդին և ես ժողովրդին կօգնեմ այդ հետևություններն անելու գործում»,- ասել էր նա:

Նախ, ցանկացած ողջամիտ ու փաստարկված միտք այդ բանավեճում հաղթել չի կարող, երբ դիմացինդ անսկզբունք, պոպուլիստ և լաչառ անձ է, որի միակ նպատակն ամեն ստոր գնով դիմացինին վիրավորելն է։ Հատկապես այսօր, երբ փաշինյանական քարոզչամեքենան այնպես է իջեցրել ցանկացած բանավեճի նշաձողը, որ հաղթող կարող է դառնալ ոչ թե փաստարկը, ապացույցը, խելամիտ խոսքը, այլ անսահման լաչառությունը։ Փաշինյանը, որն իր թիմին պատրաստում է արտահերթ խորհրդարանական ընտրությունների, փորձում է ՀՀ նախկին նախագահներին իր կեղտոտ խաղում ներգրավելով, համախմբել իր կողմնակիցներին, «նախկիններ-ներկաներ» արատավոր դիսկուրսը չարաշահելով կրկին գերազանցություն ստանալ։

ՀՀ երեք նախագահներն էլ, իհարկե, հրաշալի հասկանում են Փաշինյանի իրական նպատակները, որ իրենց մերժումն օգտագործելու են (և արդեն իսկ իշխանական քարոզչամեքենան և կից սպասարկուներն օգտագործում են) հերթական վայնասունը բարձրացնելու համար։ Սակայն ստեղծված իրավիճակում ճիշտը ոչ թե Փաշինյանի հետ բանավիճելն է, այլ նրան տոտալ արհամարհելը։ Հենց դրանից է առավելապես վախենում Նիկոլ Փաշինյանը։

Մյուս կողմից էլ, կոլաբորանտների հետ չեն բանավիճում։ Դժվար է պատկերացնել, որ Շարլ դը Գոլն, օրինակ, բանավիճեր Վիշիի կառավարության՝ նացիստների սպասարկուների հետ։
