Թուրքիան կոչ է արել Ռուսաստանին դադարեցնել Սիրիայի նախկին նախագահ Բաշար ալ-Ասադի վարչակարգին աջակցելը՝ փորձելով ապացուցել երկարաժամկետ հեռանկարում այդ աջակցության անիմաստ լինելը։ Այս մասին, Gazeta.ru–ի փոխանցմամբ, գրում է The Washington Post-ը՝ վկայակոչելով աղբյուրին։
Սիրիացի ապստամբների հարձակման առաջին օրերին Մոսկվան կապ է հաստատել Անկարայի հետ՝ պարզելու «Հայաթ Թահրիր ալ-Շամ» խմբավորման ծրագրերը, պարզաբանում է աղբյուրը։ Միևնույն ժամանակ, Թուրքիան Մոսկվային խորհուրդ է տվել հրաժարվել զինված ընդդիմության դեմ հարվածներից՝ Սիրիայի նոր իշխանություններին Ռուսաստանի դեմ տրամադրելու ռիսկերի պատճառով։
Թուրքիայի արտգործնախարար Հաքան Ֆիդանը, իր հերթին, ասել է, որ Անկարան կոչ է արել Մոսկվային հրաժարվել Ասադի ռեժիմին աջակցելուց, քանի որ տարածաշրջանում պայմանները փոխվել են։
Դեկտեմբերի 8-ին ՌԴ ԱԳՆ-ն հայտնել էր, որ Ասադը որոշել է թողնել պետության ղեկավարի պաշտոնը և լքել Սիրիան՝ «հանձնարարականներ տալով իրականացնել իշխանության փոխանցումը խաղաղ ճանապարհով»։ Ավելի ուշ հայտնի դարձավ, որ Սիրիայի նախկին նախագահը Մոսկվա է եկել ընտանիքի անդամների հետ։
