Պենտագոնը պաշտոնական հաղորդագրություն է տարածել ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարար Սուրեն Պապիկյանի և ԱՄՆ ռազմական գերատեսչության ղեկավար Լլոյդ Ջ. Օսթինի հանդիպման վերաբերյալ:  Երկու ղեկավարները հանդիպել են՝ քննարկելու ԱՄՆ-ի և Հայաստանի միջև ռազմավարական հարաբերությունները:

«Ձեր այցը պատմական է: Հայաստանն իր ձեռքը մեկնել է Միացյալ Նահանգներին, և ես հպարտ եմ, որ այսօր ձեզ հյուրընկալում եմ այստեղ»,- ասել է Օսթինը` ողջունելով իր գործընկերոջը:

Նա հավելել է, որ ԱՄՆ-ն աջակցում է ինքնիշխան, անկախ և բարգավաճ Հայաստանին, և որ երկու ժողովուրդների միջև հարաբերությունները շարունակում են սերտանալ։

Պետքարտուղարը նաև նշել է, որ վերջին երկու տարիների ընթացքում ԱՄՆ-ն անվտանգության ոլորտում Հայաստանին տրամադրել է առանցքային օգնությունր։ Օսթինը հավելել է, որ ԱՄՆ-ն ծրագրում է պահպանել հարաբերությունների ամրապնդման թափը։

Նա նաև ընդգծել է Միացյալ Նահանգների աջակցությունը հարավկովկասյան տարածաշրջանում խաղաղությանն ու կայունությանը։

«Մեր զորքերը ուս ուսի ծառայել են Աֆղանստանում «Վճռական աջակցություն» առաքելության ժամանակ, և մենք շարունակում ենք միասին աշխատել ՆԱՏՕ-ի Կոսովոյի ուժերում: Սա մեր առաջին հանդիպումն է, և մենք ունենք լիարժեք օրակարգ: Ես անհամբեր սպասում եմ լսելու Հայաստանի զինված ուժերի ձեր տեսլականի և Հարավային Կովկասում խաղաղության հեռանկարների մասին»:
