ԱՄՆ-ն նոր պատժամիջոցներ կսահմանի Վրաստանի դեմ, հայտնել է պետքարտուղար Էնթոնի Բլինկենը՝ իշխանությունների քննադատելով Վրաստանի քաղաքացիների խաղաղ հավաքների և արտահայտվելու ազատության իրավունքները ճնշելու համար:

«ԱՄՆ-ն խստորեն դատապարտում է «Վրացական երազանք»-ի դաժան և չարդարացված բռնությունը Վրաստանի քաղաքացիների, ցուցարարների, ԶԼՄ-ների ներկայացուցիչների և ընդդիմադիր գործիչների նկատմամբ։ Մենք կոչ ենք անում «Վրացական երազանք»-ին դադարեցնել ռեպրեսիվ մարտավարությունը, ներառյալ կամայական կալանավորումը և ֆիզիկական բռնությունը՝ փորձելով լռեցնել իր քննադատներին։ Մեզ հատկապես անհանգստացնում են իրավապահ մարմինների ներկայացուցիչների կողմից մարդկանց հասցված լուրջ վնասվածքների մասին հաղորդումները: Նրանք, ովքեր ձերբակալվել են խաղաղ հավաքների և խոսքի ազատության իրենց իրավունքների իրականացման համար, պետք է անհապաղ ազատ արձակվեն, իսկ ուժի ապօրինի կիրառման համար պատասխանատու պաշտոնյաները պետք է լիովին պատասխանատվության ենթարկվեն։

Միացյալ Նահանգները համերաշխ է վրաց ժողովրդի և նրա ժողովրդավարական ձգտումների հետ։

Նրանք, ովքեր խարխլում են Վրաստանում ժողովրդավարական գործընթացները, ճնշում են քաղաքացիների խաղաղ հավաքների և արտահայտվելու ազատության իրավունքը, պատասխանատվության կենթարկվեն: Ի հավելումն երկկողմ համագործակցության՝ ավելի վաղ հայտարարված մեր համապարփակ վերանայման շարունակմանը, Միացյալ Նահանգներն այժմ պատրաստվում է օգտագործել մեր տրամադրության տակ եղած գործիքները, ներառյալ լրացուցիչ պատժամիջոցները», - ասել է նա:

Պետքարտուղարը նաև ընդգծել է, որ ԱՄՆ-ն Վրաստանի և վրաց ժողովրդի գործընկերն է ավելի քան 32 տարի, և որ այդ գործընկերությունը հիմնված է ազատության և ժողովրդավարության հանդեպ ընդհանուր սիրո և Վրաստանը եվրոատլանտյան ընտանիքում տեսնելու ցանկության վրա: Բլինկենի խոսքով՝ Միացյալ Նահանգները եղել է Վրաստանի ինքնիշխանության և տարածքային ամբողջականության ամուր ջատագովը, և ԱՄՆ-ի հավատարմությունը Վրաստանի խիզախ ժողովրդին և նրա եվրաատլանտյան նկրտումներին երկաթյա է։
