Լեւոն Կաֆաֆյանը կվերստեղծի գիտաֆանտաստիկ պատմությունը հյուսածո կտավի օգնությամբ

Ի՞նչ կլինի, եթե կարողանաք հայտնվել գիտաֆանտաստիկ պատմությունում, որի գործողությունը տեղի է ունենում 1000 տարի հետո։ Շարժական տունը Դեթրոյթի Ժամանակակից թանգարանի (MOCAD) տարածքում կանի հենց դա։ Դեթրոյթցի նկարիչ Լեւոն Կաֆաֆյանը (Levon Kafafian) օգտագործել է հյուսածո կտավ, որպեսզի կենդանացնի տեսարանն իր «Portal Fire» գիտաֆանտաստիկ պատմությունից, որի գործողությունը տեղի է ունենում կախարդական «Ազադիստանում» (Azadistan), գրել է Axios-ը։
«Portal Fire»-ը համադրում է հայկական հոգեւոր ավանդույթը, գործելակերպը եւ ավանդապատումները նրա սփյուռքի ընդարձակ եւ մշտապես փոփոխվող իրողությունների հետ»,- ասում է Կաֆաֆյանը։
Կաֆաֆյանի պատմության մեջ թվային հանրույթը փլուզվել է, եւ Հարավարեւմտյան Ասիայի էթնիկ խմբերում սկսվել է շարժումը հանուն անկախության։ «Գլխավոր հերոսը՝ ոչ բինար որբ, մարգարեության առարկա է, եւ էական տեղաշարժ է առաջացնում Ազադիստանի աշխարհում, որն անցել է էգալիտար հասարակությունից հիերարխիկ հասարակության, որտեղ կլաններից մեկը գերիշխում է մյուսների վրա»։
Կաֆաֆյանը ենթադրում է, որ«Portal Fire»-ը վերջնարդյունքում կդառնա գրաֆիկական վեպ, եւ պատմում է իր պատմությունը տարբեր ինստալյացիաների օգնությամբ, որոնք համադրում են ավանդապատումն ու տեքստիլ արվեստը։
MOCAD-ի «Portal Fire: Shrine of the Torchbearer» ցուցահանդեսը ընդգրկում է քարայրի նմանվող սրբատեղի փափուկ քանդակներով, պատին կախված զարդանախշերով, գորգերով, գրքով եւ կոստյումներով, որոնք պատմում են պատմության մի մասը գլխավոր հերոսի եւ նրա լավագույն բարեկամի, երկու հոգեւորականների, բյուրեղյա արտեֆակտների եւ ծածուկ մարգարեության պատկերմամբ։
Կաֆաֆյանը սկսել է աշխատել հյուսվածքի ուղղությամբ Hagopian World of Rugs-ի միջոցով։
