На аукцион Sotheby's выставят редчайший экземпляр знаменитой книги Маккиавели «Государь»

Знаменитый итальянский дипломат эпохи Возрождения Никколо Макиавелли стал синонимом тонкого интриганства. И вот теперь на аукцион выставлено чрезвычайно редкое первое издание его самой известной работы, политического руководства «Государь», с ожидаемой ценой продажи до 300 000 евро (375 000 долларов), сообщает CNN.

По данным аукционного дома Sotheby's, этот экземпляр книги начала XVI века является одним из всего 11 зарегистрированных первых изданий. В то время как все остальные хранятся в институциональных библиотеках, в основном в Италии, этот экземпляр принадлежит частному коллекционеру и ранее был неизвестен.

«Нам не было известно о других экземплярах, находящихся в частных руках, и это первый экземпляр, о котором нам известно, поступивший на аукцион, разумеется, за последние десятилетия», - рассказал телеканалу CNN специалист Sotheby's Books & Manuscripts Габриэль Хитон.

«Итак, перед нами одно из величайших произведений политической теории всех времен, одна из самых известных книг XVI века, и это самое первое издание, а также уникальная возможность для экземпляра, попавшего на аукцион», - добавил он.

Хитон заявил, что аукционный дом «рад» и «взволнован» тем, что предложит эту «невероятно редкую книгу» на лондонском аукционе Sotheby's в рамках следующего аукциона «Книги и рукописи», который пройдет с 28 ноября по 12 декабря.
