Գիտնականներն օգտագործել են համակարգչային մոդելավորում ուսումնասիրելու արևային մարտկոցների ազդեցությունը կլիմայի վրա աշխարհի տարբեր քաղաքներում, գրում է techno.nv.ua-ն, և հայտնաբերել են շենքերի տանիքների վրա արևային մարտկոցների զանգվածային օգտագործման անսպասելի կողմնակի ազդեցություն: Հետազոտողների միջազգային թիմի նոր ուսումնասիրությունը ցույց է տվել, որ արևային մարտկոցները կարող են զգալիորեն ազդել քաղաքների ջերմաստիճանի վրա՝ բարձրացնելով դրանք ցերեկը և իջեցնելով գիշերը: Համակարգչային մոդելավորման արդյունքները ցույց են տվել, որ ամբողջությամբ ծածկելով տանիքներն արևային մարտկոցներով, քաղաքներում միջին ջերմաստիճանը կարող է աճել 1,5 աստիճանով ամռանը, իսկ ձմռանը իջնել 0,6 աստիճանով: Այդ երևույթը պայմանավորված է նրանով, որ արևային մարտկոցները կլանում են արևի էներգիան և տաքանում։ Արդյունքում նրանք ջերմություն են հաղորդում շրջակա օդին բարձրացնելով ջերմաստիճանը։ Գիշերը պանելներն ավելի արագ են սառչում, քան շրջակա միջավայրը, ինչը հանգեցնում է ջերմաստիճանի մի փոքր անկման:
Այնուամենայնիվ հետազոտության հեղինակներն ընդգծել են, որ արևային մարտկոցները շարունակում են մնալ վերականգնվող էներգիայի կարևոր աղբյուր, սակայն քաղաքային կլիմայի վրա դրանց բացասական ազդեցությունը նվազագույնի հասցնելու համար անհրաժեշտ է մշակել նոր տեխնոլոգիաներ և մոտեցումներ։
