COP29-ի գագաթնաժողովը մոտ է, և այս անգամ այն անցկացվելու է Ադրբեջանում՝ Հարավային Կովկասում: Ակնկալվում է, որ հաջորդ ամիս մոտ 50 հազար մարդ կգա մայրաքաղաք Բաքու միջոցառմանը մասնակցելու համար: Հաշվի առնելով, որ Ադրբեջանի արտահանման եկամուտների 95%-ը ստացվում է նավթից ու գազից, դա կարող է ծաղր թվալ, գրում է CODA պարբերականը։
Ադրբեջանի կառավարությունն, ըստ երևույթին, վճռական է իր միջազգային իմիջը կլիմայի համաժողովից առաջ «էկոլոգիացնելու» հարցում՝ պարզապես գրաքննելով և բանտարկելով լրագրողներին, որոնք համարձակվում են հետաքննել կոռուպցիան կլիմայական ոլորտում և իրենց երկրում բնապահպանական հանցագործությունները:
Անցյալ հունիսին Ադրբեջանի արևմտյան շրջանների բնակիչները սկսեցին ցույցեր կազմակերպել՝ Սոյուդլու գյուղի մոտակայքում գործող բրիտանական ոսկու հանքավայրից թունավոր թափոնների պահեստավորման առաջարկվող նոր ամբարի դեմ: Բողոքի ակցիայի կազմակերպման համար ադրբեջանական ռեժիմը մեղադրել է նախ Արևմուտքին, ապա Ռուսաստանին։ Հանքավայրը, որը շահագործում է բրիտանական Anglo-Asian Mining ընկերությունը, օգտագործում է ցիանիդ՝ ոսկին հիմնաքարից բաժանելու համար, այնուհետև թափում է թույնը, որը տեղացիների կարծիքով լվացազերծվում է իրենց հողի և գետերի մեջ: Շրջանի բնակիչները բողոքում են գոլորշիների պատճառով շնչառական հիվանդություններից և ասում են, որ թոքերի քաղցկեղի դեպքերը նույնպես աճել են:
Ադրբեջանական սակավաթիվ անկախ լրատվականներից մեկի՝ Abzas Media-ի լրագրողները եկել էին հետաքննելու և սկսել էին հոդվածներ հրապարակել հանքի և շրջակա միջավայրի վնասների մասին, որոնք այն պատճառում էր տեղի համայնքին: Այնուհետև Ադրբեջանի իշխանությունները ձերբակալել են պարբերականի հիմնադիր Ուլվի Հասանլիին, այնուհետև նրա չորս թղթակիցներին։
Անցյալ շաբաթ Abszas Media-ի գլխավոր խմբագրի ժամանակավոր պաշտոնակատար Լեյլա Մուստաֆաևան, որն այժմ վտարանդի է, Կոպենհագենի գագաթնաժողովին պատմել է՝ ինչպես է «COP29-ն օգնում Ադրբեջանի կառավարությանը «կանաչապատել» հանածո վառելիքի արտահանումը»:
