ԱՄՆ-ի բնակիչը մահացել է հինգ տարի առաջ ԱՄՆ Կոնեկտիկուտ քաղաքում մոծակի խայթոցից հետո: Նա արևելյան ձիերի էնցեֆալիտի զոհ էր: Այս մասին հայտնում է New York Post (NYP) թերթը։ 4
9-ամյա Ռիչարդ Պավուլսկին, լեհ-ամերիկացի, մահացել է հոկտեմբերի 15-ին ձիերի արևելյան էնցեֆալիտի հետևանքների դեմ հինգ տարի պայքարելուց հետո:
Մոծակների խայթոցների միջոցով փոխանցվող հիվանդությունը հարվածել է
Պավուլսկուն 2019 թվականին, երբ նա մաքրում էր իր տան բակը: Մոծակի խայթոցի հաջորդ օրը տղամարդը սկսել է գլխացավեր, սրտխառնոց ու փսխում զգալ, ինչի պատճառով էլ նրան շտապ հոսպիտալացրել են։ Բժիշկները նրա մոտ ուղեղային այտուց են ախտորոշել, որից հետո վիրահատություն են կատարել, սակայն Պավուլսկին կոմայի մեջ է ընկել։ Այն հազվագյուտ վիրուս է, որն ազդում է կենտրոնական նյարդային համակարգի վրա: Օրգանիզմ մտնելուց հետո առաջանում է գլխացավ, ջերմություն, ապակողմնորոշում և ցնցումներ։ Չկա կոնկրետ բուժում, իսկ հիվանդների շրջանում մահացությունը հասնում է 33%-ի: Վիրուսը մարդկանց փոխանցվում է մոծակների խայթոցների միջոցով, թեև ենթադրվում է, որ ձիերը հիմնական կրողներն են: Երկու ամիս կոմայի մեջ մնալուց հետո Պավուլսկին արթնացել է, սակայն վիրուսի հետևանքները լուրջ վնաս են հասցրել նրա ուղեղին, երիկամներին և լյարդին։
Հաջորդ հինգ տարիների ընթացքում նա հիվանդանոցներում և ծերանոցներում էր մտնում և դուրս գալիս՝ տառապելով շփոթմունքից և բարդություններից: Անցյալ շաբաթ նրա վիճակը վատթարացավ՝ չբուժվող բակտերիալ և ստաֆիլոկոկային վարակների պատճառով, որոնք հանգեցրին օրգանների անբավարարության:
