Ս. Գրիգորիս հայրապետը Վրթանես կաթողիկոսի ավագ որդին էր: Ըստ Փավստոս Բուզանդի՝ Ս. Գրիգորիսը եղել է Աղվանքի և Վիրքի կաթողիկոսը, նորոգել ու բարեկարգել բոլոր եկեղեցիները` Աստծո խոսքը քարոզելով մարդկանց: Նա Քրիստոսի սիրո վարդապետությունը քարոզել է նաև մազքութների երկրում: Մազքութները, Կասպից ծովի Վատնյան կոչվող դաշտում, սրբին կապել են ձիու պոչից և արձակել: Այդպես հայրապետը նահատակվել է: Ըստ ավանդության, նա թաղված է Արցախի Ամարաս գյուղի Ս. Գրիգորիս եկեղեցում:

Նրա նշխարները գտնվել են 489 թվականին, հայոց Վաչագան թագավորի օրոք:
Թաթուլը և Վարոսը եղբայրներ էին` Ս. Սահակի և Ս. Մեսրոպի աշակերտները: Վարդանանց պատերազմից հետո առանձնանում են Աբեղյանց շրջանի լեռները` առանձին-առանձին ճգնելով Վիշապաձոր կոչվող վայրում: Որսորդները գտնում են Թաթուլի ճգնարանը, և նրա համբավը տարածվում է ամենուր: Մարդիկ տարբեր տեղերից գալիս են սրբի մոտ, խորհուրդներ հարցնում, լսում նրա մխիթարող խոսքերն ու խաղաղված վերադառնում իրենց բնակության վայրերը: Բազմաթիվ մարդիկ համախմբվում են երկու եղբայրների շուրջը և հիմնում միաբանություն, որ հոգևոր առաջնորդի անունով կոչվել է Ս. Թաթուլի միաբանություն: Միաբանության անդամներից էր նաև Թումասը, ում Ս. Թաթուլն առաջնորդ է կարգում և ինքն առանձնանում է: Նա իր մահկանացուն կնքում է խոր ծերության հասակում:

Վարոսը ճգնում է Դիցմայր կոչվող քարանձավում, ուր հետագայում կառուցվում է գյուտի մենաստանը` ի հիշատակ նրա նշխարների գյուտի: Անտոնը և Կրոնիդեսը կեսարացի հույներ էին, որոնց Հայաստան էր բերել Ս. Գրիգոր Լուսավորիչը:

Նրանք վանականության հիմնադիրներն են հայ իրականության մեջ: Երբ հավատո հայր Ս. Գրիգորը Տարոնում քանդել է Իննակնյա բարձունքի վրա գտնվող Գիսանեի կուռքը, նույն տեղում կառուցել է Ս. Կարապետ եկեղեցին, որտեղ հաստատվել են այս երկու վանականները: 40 տարի ճգնելուց հետո Ս. Անտոնը և Ս. Կրոնիդեսը կնքել են իրենց մահկանացուն 4-րդ դարի երկրորդ քառորդում:

Յոթ խոտաճարակներն այն ճգնավորներն էին, ովքեր 584 թվականին Տարոնի Գլակա կամ Ս. Կարապետ եկեղեցի եկան և բնակվեցին Իննակնյա վանքի մոտ գտնվող Ավետյաց կոչվող բլուրի մոտ: Քանի որ նրանք սնվում էին միայն խոտերով, կոչվեցին խոտաճարակներ: Հայտնի են նաև նրանց անունները` Պողիկարոպոս, Թեովնաս, Սիմեոն, Հովհաննես, Եպիփան, Դիմառիոս և Նարկեսոս:
Պարսից Խոսրով թագավորը պատերազմ է հայտարարում հույների դեմ և իր զորքի մի թևն ուղարկում է Տարոնի կողմերը՝ թալանի: Կանխազգալով թշնամու մոտալուտ հարձակումը` վանականները վանքի գանձերը փրկելու նպատակով թաքցնում են ապահով տեղերում, իսկ իրենք` հեռանում, բացի Ս. Խոտաճարակներից, ովքեր ոչ մի կերպ չեն համաձայնվում վանքը լքել: Պարսից զորքը 604 թվականին հարձակվում է վանքի վրա, բայց գանձեր չգտնելով՝ հուսախաբ լինում և գլխատում յոթ խոտաճարակներին: Երեք օր հետո հեռացած միաբանները գալիս և թաղում են նրանց մարմինները Ս. Անտոնի և Ս. Կրոնիդեսի գերեզմանների մոտ:
