ՀԱՆՐԱՀԱՅՏ ՄՈԼՈՐՈՒԹՅՈՒՆՆԵՐՍեղմեք ԱՅՍՏԵՂ, լրացրեք օնլայն հայտը և մոռացեք հոսանքի վարձի մասին
Հնագետները հայտնաբերել են ավագ սպայի մասնատված մնացորդները, որը զոհվել է 19-րդ դարի տարաբախտ Արկտիկական արշավի ժամանակ, նա դարձել է մարդակերության զոհ, ինչը պատկերացում է տալիս կորած թիմի ողբերգական եւ ահավոր վերջին օրերի մասին։
Նոր հետազոտությունը, որն իրականացվել է ոսկորների ԴՆԹ ուսումնասիրությամբ՝ վերցված կենդանի ազգականի նմուշից, ցույց է տվել, որ մնացորդները պատկանել են Ջեյմս Ֆիցջեյմսին՝ HMS Erebus նավի կապիտանին։ Մեծ Բրիտանիայի ռազմածովային նավատորմի նավը եւ նրան նմանվող HMS Terror նավը գտնվել են սըր Ջոն Ֆրանկլինի հրամանատարության ներքո, որը գլխավորել է արշավը դեպի Հյուսիսարեւմտյան անցում՝ ոչ նավարկային շրջանների հետազոտության համար։ Վտանգավոր ուղին Հյուսիսային Ամերիկայով անցնում է կանադական Արկտիկական արշիպելագի կղզիներով։ 1848թ. ապրիլին, այն բանից երեք տարի հետո, երբ նավը դուրս է եկել Անգլիայից, արշավին մասնակցող թիմը հեռացել է սառույցներում մնացած նավից Ֆրանկլինի եւ եւս 23 մարդու զոհվելուց հետո։ Ֆիցջեյմսը օգնել է 105 ողջ մնացածներին երկար նահանջ կատարել. տղամարդիկ սահնակներով քաշում էին նավակները ցամաքով՝ անվտանգ տեղ գտնելու հույսով։ Սակայն նրանք բոլորը մահացել են այդ դժվար ճամփորդության ժամանակ, թեեւ նրանց մահվան ստույգ հանգամանքները հանելուկ են մնում։
Հետազոտողների մեկ այլ խումբ 1993թ. հայտնաբերել է 451 ոսկոր, որոնք ենթադրաբար պատկանել են Ֆրանկլինի առնվազն 13 նավաստու, Քինգ Ուիլյամ կղզում, կանադական Նունավութ տարածքում։ Նրանց մեջ կային մնացորդներ, որոնք նույնականացվել են որպես Ֆիցջեյմսին պատկանող նոր հետազոտությունում, որի արդյունքների մասին տեղեկացվում է Archaeological Science ամսագրում։
Վկայությունները, որոնք հավաքվել են տեղի ինուիտների կողմից 1850-ական թթ., վկայում են այն մասին, որ անձնակազմի որոշ անդամներ դիմել են կանիբալիզմի։ Չնայած նախապես այդ տեղեկություններն Անգլիայում ընդունվել են թերահավատորեն, հաջորդ հետազոտությունները ցույց են տվել, որ ոսկորների զգալի քանակության վրա հայտնաբերվել են կտրվածքների հետքեր, որոնք արշավի աղետալի վախճանի լուռ վկայությունն են։
