Նիկոլ Փաշինյանի և Ռուսաստանի նախագահ Վլադիմիր Պուտինի՝ Մոսկվայում կայացած հանդիպման ժամանակ համաձայնություն է ձեռք բերվել, որ հունվարի 1-ից ռուս սահմանապահները կհեռանան հայ-իրանական սահմանի հսկիչ-սահմանային կետից։ «Համաձայնություն է ձեռքբերվել նաև այն մասին, որ 2025 թվականի հունվարի 1-ից Հայաստան-Իրան և Հայաստան-Թուրքիա պետական սահմանի պահպանությանը կմասնակցեն նաև ՀՀ ԱԱԾ Սահմանապահ զորքերը, իսկ Հայաստան-Իրան պետական սահմանի հսկիչ-սահմանային կետում ծառայությունն ամբողջությամբ կիրականացվի ՀՀ ԱԱԾ Սահմանապահ զորքերի ուժերով», - նշված է վարչապետի խոսնակի տարածած հաղորդագրությունում։ Ռուս սահմանապահներն ավելի վաղ հեռացել էին նաև «Զվարթնոց» միջազգային օդանավակայանից։
Իշխանական քարոզչամեքենան և ձեռնասուն արևմտամետները երեկվանից իսկական խրախճանք են սկսել՝ այս որոշումը որպես ինքնիշխանության ամրապնդման ևս մեկ քայլ անվանելով։ Մինչդեռ, փորձագետները նշում են, թե Նիկոլ Փաշինյանն ԱՄՆ առջև ստանձնել է պարտավորություն՝ հնարավորինս արագ հասնել ռուսական զորքերի դուրսբերմանը հայ-իրանական սահմանից: Վաշինգտոնի այդ ցանկությունը բխում է նրա քաղաքականությունից, «Միջին միջանցքի» իրականացման իմպերատիվից:
Արևմուտքն ամեն գնով ուզում է հասնել «Զանգեզուրի միջանցքի» բացմանը, դրա վերահսկողությունն արևմտյան որևէ կառույցի կամ Թուրքիային հանձնելու միջոցով։ Այդկերպ, նաև լուծվելու է Ռուսաստանին տարածաշրջանից հանելու հարցը։ Վստահաբար, Փաշինյանը ՀՀ շահերից բխող որևէ հաշվարկ այս հարցում էլ չունի, ընդամենը շարժվում է իր արևմտյան տերերի հանձնարարականներով։ Արդյունքում, ինչպես միշտ Հայաստանը կանգնելու է կոտրած տաշտակի առջև։
