Անկախության հանրաքվեից 3 տասնամյակ է անցել, սակայն առավել քան երբևէ, այս մեծագույն գաղափարի պաշտպանությունը, այսօրվա Հայաստանում, խիստ կասկածի տակ է:
 
Անկախության խոցելիությունն առաջին հերթին պայմանավորված է Հայաստանում ներկայումս գործող վարչակազմով, ով անկախության, ինքնիշխանության կեղծ կարգախոսների անվան տակ, մեր երկրի պետականության հետ առնչվող ցանկացած ինստիտուտ, խորհրդանիշ արմատախիլ անելու գործառույթ է իրականացնում:
Հանրապետականի նպատակներն ու կամքն իր հիմնադրման օրվանից հետո անփոփոխ են և կուսակցության հիմնադիր Աշոտ Նավասարդյանից, Վազգեն Սարգսյանից, Անդրանիկ Մարգարյանից մինչև Սերժ Սարգսյան, միմյանց լրացնելով գործել ու գործում են մեր պետականության և անկախության պաշտպանության դիրքերից:
 
Առկա բավականին բարդ ու ծանր ներքաղաքական իրավիճակի և արտաքին մարտահրավերների ֆոնին, ՀՀԿ-ի քաղաքական կուրսը հիմնված է երկրում այնպիսի իրավիճակի ձևավորմանը, որի պայմաններում հայկական պետականությունը կլինի առավելագույնս պաշտպանված, իսկ երկարաժամկետ խաղաղության և կայունության ապահովմանն ուղղված ինստիտուտներն ու կառույցները` լիարժեք կայացած և ֆունկցիոնալ:
