Սովը պատերազմից տուժած Սուդանում «գրեթե ամենուր» է, հայտարարել է Առողջապահության համաշխարհային կազմակերպության գլխավոր տնօրեն Թեդրոս Ադհանոմ Գեբրեյեսուսը երկիր այցելելուց հետո BBC's Today ծրագրին տված հարցազրույցում:
«Իրավիճակը Սուդանում բավական տագնապալի է... բնակչության զանգվածային տեղաշարժն այժմ այն ամենամեծն է աշխարհում, և, իհարկե, սովը»,-նշել է ԱՀԿ գլխավոր տնօրենը:
Նա նշել է, որ 12 միլիոն մարդ արդեն տեղահանված է, հավելելով, որ Սուդանի նկատմամբ միջազգային հանրության ուշադրությունը «խիստ ցածր է», իսկ ռասայական խտրականությունը գործոններից մեկն է:
«Պատկերացրեք՝ ավերածություններ, բնակչության տեղահանում, համատարած հիվանդություն, իսկ հիմա էլ՝ սով»,- ասել է բժիշկ Թեդրոսը BBC-ին: Նա նշել է, որ վերջերս Սուդանի ներքին տեղահանվածների ճամբար և հիվանդանոց է այցելել:
«Այնտեղ շատ հյուծված երեխաներ եք տեսնում, որոնց կաշին ու ոսկորներն է մնացել»։
Մոտ 25 միլիոն մարդ՝ Սուդանի բնակչության կեսը, աջակցության կարիք ունի, հավելել է ԱՀԿ գլխավոր տնօրենը։ Նա ընդգծել է, որ Սուդանը «չի արժանանում այն ուշադրությանը, որին արժանի է», և դա վերաբերում է նաև Աֆրիկայում վերջին հակամարտություններին։ Նա նշել է, որ անտեղ ռասան դեր է խաղում և դրանում օրինաչափություն է տեսնում:
2023 թվականի ապրիլին Սուդանի բանակի և արագ արձագանքման ռազմականացված ուժերի (RSF) միջև քաղաքացիական պատերազմի սկսվելուց հետո այնտեղ հազարավոր մարդիկ են զոհվել։
