Այն, ինչ կատարվում է Գազայի հատվածում, բացարձակապես անընդունելի է. այս մասին Reuters-ին տված հարցազրույցում ասել է ՄԱԿ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղար Անտոնիու Գուտերեշը:

Անդրադառնալով Գազայում Իսրայելի պատասխան գործողություններին ընդդեմ պաղեստինյան ՀԱՄԱՍ խմբավորմանը՝ Գուտերեշն ասել է, որ տեղի են ունենում «միջազգային մարդասիրական իրավունքի շատ կոպիտ խախտումներ, լիակատար բացակայում է խաղաղ բնակչության արդյունավետ պաշտպանությունը»:

Իսրայելը պնդում է, որ քայլեր է ձեռնարկում քաղաքացիական անձանց վնաս պատճառելու վտանգը նվազեցնելու համար, և որ Գազայում պաղեստինցիների զոհերի առնվազն մեկ երրորդը զինյալներ են: Իսրայելը ՀԱՄԱՍ-ին մեղադրում է պաղեստինցի խաղաղ բնակիչներին որպես կենդանի վահան օգտագործելու համար, ինչը ՀԱՄԱՍ-ը հերքում է։

Գուտերեշն ընդգծել է, որ չի խոսել Իսրայելի վարչապետ Բենիամին Նեթանյահուի հետ, որը երկար ժամանակ մեղադրում է ՄԱԿ-ին հակաիսրայելական լինելու համար:

«Ես նրա հետ չեմ խոսել, քանի որ նա չի պատասխանում իմ հեռախոսազանգերին, բայց ես նրա հետ չխոսելու պատճառ չունեմ: Ուստի, եթե նա գա Նյու Յորք և ինձ հետ հանդիպում խնդրի, ես շատ ուրախ կլինեմ տեսնել նրան», - ասել է Գուտերեշը։ 

Այն հարցին, թե արդյոք Նեթանյահուն նախատեսում է հանդիպել Գուտերեշի հետ ՄԱԿ-ի Գլխավոր վեհաժողովի շրջանակում, ՄԱԿ-ում Իսրայելի դեսպան Դենի Դանոնը պատասխանել է, որ Նեթանյահուի ժամանակացույցը դեռ վերջնական տեսքի չի բերվել։
