Ինչո՞ւ է COVID-19-ի դեպքերն ավելանում ամռանը

Ավանդաբար ամառը արևայրուքների և ալերգիաների ժամանակ է, իսկ ձմեռը`մրսածության: Վերջին տարիներին COVID-19-ի դեպքերը ամեն ամառ ավելանում են: Կարծես թե COVID-19-ը խաթարել է բժշկական հիվանդությունների մեր տարեկան ցիկլը։
COVID-19-ի դեպքերն ու հոսպիտալացումներն աճում են Մեծ Բրիտանիայում, ԱՄՆ-ում և Ֆրանսիայում։ Օրինակ՝ Անգլիայում ապրիլի սկզբին միջինում եղել է մոտ 180 դեպք, սակայն հուլիսի կեսերին այդ թիվը հասել է ավելի քան 500-ի։ Այսպիսով, ինչո՞ւ են COVID-19-ի դեպքերն ավելանում ամռանը, մինչդեռ շնչառական այլ վիրուսները, ինչպիսին է գրիպը, ոչ:
Սա, հավանաբար, մասամբ այն պատճառով է, որ SARS-CoV-2-ը՝ COVID-19-ի պատճառող վիրուսը, ավելի արագ է մուտացիայի ենթարկվում, քան մյուս սովորական շնչառական վիրուսները՝ հանգեցնելով նոր տարբերակների ի հայտ գալուն, որոնց մեր իմունային համակարգերն ավելի դժվար է կարողանում հաղթահարել, գրում է New Scientist-ը։

Այն, որ որոշ վարակներ ավելի տարածված են ձմռանը, կարող է մասամբ պայմանավորված լինել այն պատճառով, որ մարդիկ ավելի շատ շփվում են ներսում ցուրտ ամիսներին, ինչը նպաստում է փոխանցմանը: Չնայած ամառը ավելի տաք է, այն նաև հաճախ այն ժամանակ է լինում, երբ մարդիկ կարող են ճանապարհորդել, ասում է Ֆրանսուա Բալուն Լոնդոնի համալսարանական քոլեջից: Այս պայմանները կարող են մեծացնել ցանկացած շնչառական վարակի փոխանցումը, բայց SARS-CoV-2 դեպքերի ավելի բարձր տարածում ունենալը կարող է հանգեցնել ավելի շատ վարակների ամռանը, քան մյուս վիրուսները, բացատրում է Բալուն:
