Վրաստանի նոր օդանավակայանը նախատեսվում է շահագործման հանձնել 2029 թվականին

Վրաստանի կառավարությունը նախատեսում է 2029 թվականին Վազիանիում շահագործման հանձնել տարեկան մինչև 10 միլիոն ուղևորի սպասարկելու հնարավորությամբ միջազգային նոր օդանավակայանի առաջին հատվածը: Այդ մասին նշվում է երկրի Կառավարության աշխատակազմի հրապարակած հայտարարությունում:
500 հեկտար ընդհանուր մակերեսով օդանավակայանը կառուցվելու է Թբիլիսիի մերձակայքում գտնվող նախկին ռազմաբազայի տարածքում: Հետագայում օդանավակայանի ուղևորահոսքը նախատեսվում է հասցնել տարեկան 20 միլիոն մարդու։
Օդանավակայանի նախագծի մշակման գործընթացում Վրաստանի կառավարությանն աջակցում է Ասիական զարգացման բանկը, որը հունիսին հայտարարել է գլխավոր հատակագծի մշակման մրցույթ:
Վրաստանի կառավարության գնահատմամբ՝ նախագծի ընդհանուր արժեքը շուրջ 1.2 միլիարդ դոլար է: Երկրի վարչապետ Իրակլի Կոբախիձեն հայտարարել է, որ Թբիլիսիի ներկայիս օդանավակայանը տարեկան սպասարկում է մինչև 4.5 միլիոն ուղևորի։
Վազիանին Թբիլիսիից 25 կմ հեռու գտնվող գյուղ է։ Մինչև 2001 թվականի հունիսի 30-ն այստեղ էր գտնվում ՌԴ ՊՆ 137-րդ ռազմաբազան։
