Հայ Առաքելական Եկեղեցին այսօր նշում է Շողակաթի տոնը։ Ինչպես տեղեկանում ենք Qahana.am կայքից, Շողակաթի տոնը Ս. Էջմիածնի Մայր Տաճարի նավակատիքի տոնն է:
Ըստ Ագաթանգեղոս պատմիչի` հայոց աշխարհի երկրորդ լուսավորիչ Ս. Գրիգորը մի տեսիլք է տեսնում, ուր Քրիստոս Աստված իջնում է երկնքից և ձեռքի ոսկե մուրճով հարվածում Սանդարամետ կոչված կռատան տեղում: Աննկարագրելի ու զարմանահրաշ այս տեսիլքով Միածինը մատնանշում է Մայր տաճարի հիմնադրման վայրը: Սրբի այս տեսիլքը կոչվում է «Շողակաթ», քանզի Ս. Գրիգոր Լուսավորիչը տեսնում է, թե ինչպես է երկնքից մի շող կաթում:
Պատմական տեղեկությունների համաձայն, Էջմիածնի Մայր Տաճարը նվիրագործվել և օծվել է 303 թվականին, Ս. Կույսի Վերափոխման տոնի օրը: Ըստ Մաղաքիա արք. Օրմանյանի՝ քանի որ Մայր Տաճարը նվիրված է Սուրբ Աստվածածնի անվանը, Հայ Եկեղեցին Վերափոխման տոնի նախընթաց շաբաթ օրը նշում է Շողակաթի տոնը:
1700 տարի հայ մարդու համար նվիրական ուխտատեղի դարձած Մայր Աթոռ Ս. Էջմիածինը Հայ Առաքելական Սուրբ Եկեղեցու հավատքի օրրանն ու սրբություն սրբոցն է` իր հոգևոր, ազգային ու պատմական նշանակությամբ` հիմնադրված Աստծո Միածին Որդու միջոցով: Ս. Գրիգորի տեսիլքով Աստված իջավ մեր դրախտավայր երկիրն ու կանխորոշեց հայ ժողովրդի ապագան` որպես ընտրյալ մի ժողովուրդ, որն առաջինը հռչակեց քրիստոնեությունը որպես պետական կրոն և իր սրտում ընդունեց Երկնավոր Վարդապետի սիրո վարդապետությունը:
