Պորտուգալիայի նախագահական ընտրությունների առաջին փուլում հաղթել է աջ կենտրոնամետ թեկնածու Մարսելո Ռեբելո դի Սոուզան, տեղեկացնում է «Արմենպրես»-ը՝ հղում անելով Associated Press-ին:

Նախնական տվյալներով դի Սոուզան ստացել է ընտրողների ձայների 52,4 տոկոսը, ինչը ապահովում է հաղթանակն առաջին փուլում:

67-ամյա դի Սոուզան աշխատել է թերթի խմբագիր, քաղաքական մեկնաբան, հետագայում դարձել է կառավարության անդամ, ընտրվել է Եվրախորհրդարանում: Նա ունի իրավունքի պրոֆեսորի գիտական կոչում:

Դի Սոուզան մարտին կփոխարինի Պորտուգալիայի ներկայիս նախագահ Հանիբալ Կավակու Սիլվային, որն այդ պաշտոնում անցկացրել է երկու հնգամյա ժամկետ:

Պորտուգալիայի նախագահի պաշտոնն ըստ էության արարողակարգային է: Նա չունի գործադիր իշխանություն, բայց ճգնաժամի պայմաններում կարող է ցրել խորհրդարանը:
