Հովհաննես Այվազովսկին բախտ ունեցավ դառնալ ճանաչված ու պահանջված նկարիչ: Նա հիշողությամբ վերարտադրում էր ծովային պեյզաժները, ցանկալի հյուր էր բազմաթիվ եվրոպական երկրներում, բարերար էր: Սակայն, չնայած համընդհանուր սիրուն, անգամ Այվազովսկին է ստիպված եղել մի անգամ նկար նկարել հանուն սննդի, գրում է kulturologia.ru-ն:
Երբ Այվազովսկին գտնվում էր Վենետիկում, երբ նրան մոտեցավ մի մարդ: Սկզբում նա պարզապես հիանում էր ծովանկարչի աշխատանքով, իսկ հետո առաջարկեց նկար նկարել ոչ թե գումարի, այլ երշիկի դիմաց: Պարզվում է, որ անծանոթն ուներ իր երշիկի ֆաբրիկա ու նման փոխանակումը համարում էր միանգամայն ընդունելի: Նկարիչը, չնայած շատ զարմացած էր, սակայն ժպտալով համաձայնեց:
Իտալիայում 2-ամյա բնակության ժամանակ նա այնքան հայտնի դարձավ, որ հայրենիք վերադառնալուց հետո Հռոմի հուշանվերների կրպակներում հայտնեցին ծովային պեյզաժներով կտավներ: Տեղի նկարիչները փորձում էին գումար վաստակել նրան անվան շնորհիվ՝ իրենց ստեղծագործությունները փորձելով ներկայացնել որպես Այվազովսկու ստեղծագործություն:
Նա համարվում էր շատ հայտնի նկարիչ, ավելին, իր վաստակած գումարները ծախսում էր ոչ միայն իր վրա, այլ Թեոդոսիայի: Նրա միջոցներով կառուցվել են թանգարան, դպրոց, ցուցասրահ, մասնակի՝ ջրատար համակարգ:
