Հայաստանի պաշտպանության նախարարությունում Միացյալ Նահանգների բանակի ներկայացուցչի նշանակմամբ՝ Վաշինգտոնը մտադիր է աջակցել Երևանին՝ անվտանգության ոլորտի կառավարման բարելավման հարցում, ինչն էլ, իր հերթին, կնպաստի հայ-ամերիկյան հարաբերությունների ամրապնդմանը։«Արմենպրես»-ի հարցմանն ի պատասխան՝ այս մասին հայտնել են ՀՀ-ում ԱՄՆ-ի դեսպանությունից՝ հստակեցնելով, որ քաղաքացիական խորհրդատուի ընտրությունն արդեն կատարված է և այս տարի նա աշխատանքի կանցնի։
«ԱՄՆ պետքարտուղարության Գլոբալ պաշտպանական բարեփոխումների ծրագիրն աշխարհով մեկ աջակցում է գործընկեր պետություններին առավել դիմակայուն, արդյունավետ ու հաշվետու անվտանգային հաստատությունների ձևավորման հարցում՝ ապահովելով ռազմավարական մակարդակի խորհրդատվական աջակցություն»,-նշել է դեսպանությունն՝ անդրադառնալով ԱՄՆ պետքարտուղարի տեղակալ Էզրա Զեյայի՝ օրեր առաջ արված հայտարարությանն այն մասին, որ ամերիկյան բանակի ներկայացուցիչը կաշխատի Հայաստանի պաշտպանության նախարարությունում։Անդրադառնալով հարցին, թե ՀՀ ՊՆ-ում ի՞նչ գործառույթներ են վերապահված լինելու ԱՄՆ բանակի ներկայացուցչին՝ դեսպանությունից հաղորդել են. «Քաղաքացիական խորհրդատուն չի ֆինանսավորվում ԱՄՆ բանակի կամ Պաշտպանության դեպարտամենտի կողմից. ֆինանսավորումն ապահովվում է Պետքարտուղարության կողմից և խորհրդատուն աջակցելու է Հայաստանի պաշտպանական հաստատությունների ամրապնդման հարցում։
Խորհրդատուն աշխատելու է Հայաստանում՝ կանոնավոր աշխատանքային շփումներ ունենալով Դեսպանության և Պաշտպանության նախարարության հետ»։Դեսպանությունը նաև հավելել է, որ խորհրդատվական աջակցության միջոցով Միացյալ Նահանգները մտադիր է աջակցել Հայաստանին՝ անվտանգության ոլորտի կառավարման բարելավման հարցում, որն էլ իր հերթին կնպաստի հայ-ամերիկյան հարաբերությունների ամրապնդմանը։ «Քաղաքացիական խորհրդատուի ընտրությունը կատարված է և այս տարի ավելի ուշ նա աշխատանքի կանցնի»,-եզրափակել են ՀՀ-ում ԱՄՆ-ի դեսպանությունից։
