Բարեփոխական օրենսդիր Մասուդ Փեզեշքիանը նախագահական ընտրությունների երկրորդ փուլով հաղթել է՝ դառնալով Իրանի 9-րդ նախագահը:
Իրանական IRNA գործակալության փոխանցմամբ՝ ընդհանուր հաշվարկված 30 միլիոն 530 հազար 157 ձայներից Փեզեշքիանը հավաքել է 16 միլիոն 384 հազար 403 ձայն, իսկ միջուկային հարցերով նախկին բանակցող Սաիդ Ջալիլին` 13 միլիոն 538 հազար 179 ձայն։ Ընտրողների մասնակցությունը կազմել է 49,8 տոկոս:
Փեզեշքիանը ծնվել է Իրանի Արևմտյան Ադրբեջան նահանգի Մահաբադ քաղաքում, որտեղ մեծամասնություն են կազմում քրդերը: Փեզեքշիանի մայրը քուրդ է, հայրը՝ էթնիկ ազերի։
Հիշեցնենք, որ հունիսի 28-ին Իրանում տեղի են ունեցել արտահերթ ընտրություններ՝ չորս թեկնածուների մասնակցությամբ։ Առաջին փուլի արդյունքներով պայքարից դուրս են մնացել երկու թեկնածուները՝ խորհրդարանի պահպանողական խոսնակ Մոհամմադ Բաղեր Ղալիբաֆն ու արդարադատության և ներքին գործերի նախկին նախարար Մուստաֆա Փուրմոհամադը: Բարեփոխական օրենսդիր Մասուդ Փեզեշքիանը հավաքել էին 42,5 տոկոս ձայն, իսկ միջուկային հարցերով նախկին բանակցող Սաիդ Ջալիլին՝ 38,6 տոկոս:
Արտահերթ ընտրությունները նշանակվել են նախագահ Էբրահիմ Ռաիսիի մահից հետո։ Նա զոհվել է մայիսի 19-ին ուղղաթիռի վթարի հետևանքով մի քանի այլ բարձրաստիճան պաշտոնյաների հետ:
