Աշխարհի յոթ երկրներ իրենց ողջ էլեկտրաէներգիան արտադրում են վերականգնվող աղբյուրների շնորհիվ: Ըստ Սթենֆորդի համալսարանի պրոֆեսոր Մարկ Ջեյքոբսի, այդ երկրներն են Ալբանիան, Բութանը, Եթովպիան, Կոնգոյի Դեմոկրատական Հանրապետությունը, Նեպալը, Պարագվայը և Իսլանդիան՝ օգտագործելով հիդրոէներգիա, երկրաջերմային էներգիա, ինչպես նաև քամու և արևի էներգիա:
Միջազգային էներգետիկ գործակալության և Վերականգնվող էներգիայի միջազգային գործակալության տվյալներով, ևս 40 երկրներ, այդ թվում՝ 11 եվրոպական, արտադրում են վերականգնվող էներգիայի աղբյուրներով օգտագործվող ողջ էլեկտրաէներգիայի ավելի քան 50 %-ը:
Մի շարք փորձագետների կարծիքով՝ հանածո վառելիքի այրումից վերականգնվող էներգիայի աղբյուրների օգտագործմանն անցնելու անդառնալիության կետն արդեն անցել են, և այստեղ խոսքը նույնիսկ կլիմայական քաղաքականության մասին չէ, այլ զուտ տնտեսական արդյունքների։
Արևային էներգիայի արտադրությունը, օրինակ, մեծ թափ է հավաքում հատուկ դասի նյութերի՝ պերովսկիտների շնորհիվ, որոնք օգտագործվում են 2012 թվականից արևային մարտկոցներ պատրաստելու համար: Այս տեխնոլոգիական առաջընթացը զգալիորեն նվազեցրել է դրանց արժեքը և բարձրացրել արդյունավետությունը։
Վերլուծաբանները կարծում են, որ մինչև 2030 թվականն աշխարհի 100 երկրից ավելի իրենց էներգիան ամբողջությամբ կկարողանան ստանալ վերականգնվող աղբյուրներից։
