ԱՄՆ Կոնգրեսի Ներկայացուցիչների պալատի անդամներ, դեմոկրատ Աննա Էշուն և հանրապետական Քրիս Սմիթը ներկայացրել են երկկուսակցական բանաձև, որը դատապարտում է Ադրբեջանին Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի (Արցախ) բնակչության նկատմամբ էթնիկ զտումներ իրականացնելու համար:

Աննա Էշուն ասել է, որ անցյալ տարի ադրբեջանական հարձակումը Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի վրա բերեց հայկական համայնքի ոչնչացմանը: «Ադրբեջանի գործողությունները համապատասխանում են էթնիկ զտումների ամեն սահմանմանը և որպես այդպիսին պետք է դատապարտվեն»,- նշել է Էշուն։

Սմիթը հայտարարել է, որ Ադրբեջանի կողմից Լեռնային Ղարաբաղում ապրող հայերի նկատմամբ իրականացված սարսափելի վայրագությունները և էթնիկ զտումները չեն չեզոքացնում հայերի իրավունքը՝ ապրելու իրենց հինավուրց հայրենիքում խաղաղ և ազատ, դավանելու իրենց հավատքը, հետևելու իրենց սովորույթներին և խոսելու իրենց լեզվով։

«Մեր երկկուսակցական օրենսդրությունը կոչ է անում Բայդենի վարչակազմին ակտիվորեն աջակցել հայերի իրավունքներին՝ ընդդեմ Ադրբեջանի կառավարության շարունակական հանցագործությունների՝ իր դաժան բռնապետ Իլհամ Ալիևի օրոք»,- ընդգծել է նա։
