Հանրապետության նախագահ Վահագն Խաչատուրյանին իր հավատարմագրերն է հանձնել Հայաստանի Հանրապետությունում Մալթայի Հանրապետության արտակարգ և լիազոր դեսպան Ջովաննի Միչելին (նստավայրը՝ Վալետա): Շնորհավորելով նորանշանակ դեսպանին՝ նախագահը հաջողություններ է մաղթել նրան նոր պաշտոնում: «Մենք շատ բարձր ենք գնահատում մեր հարաբերությունները: Նախորդ տարի նշեցինք մեր դիվանագիտական հարաբերությունների հաստատման 30-ամյակը: Միևնույն ժամանակ, մեր հարաբերությունների պատմությունը շատ վաղ անցյալ ունի, իսկ ներկա ժամանակաշրջանում մենք շարունակում ենք պահպանել և զարգացնել մեր ջերմ հարաբերությունները: Համոզված եմ, որ Ձեր նշանակումն իր նպաստը կբերի մեր հարաբերությունների առավել ընդլայնման և խորացման գործին»,- ասել է նախագահ Խաչատուրյանը: Դեսպան Ջովաննի Միչելին, շնորհակալություն հայտնելով ընդունելության համար, մասնավորապես նշել է.
«Մեր հարաբերությունները գերազանցապես զարգանում են: Ես կանեմ առավելագույնը Մալթայի և Հայաստանի գործակցությունն ընդլայնելու համար»: Հանդիպման ընթացքում քննարկվել են ինչպես երկկողմ, այնպես էլ միջազգային հարթակներում արդյունավետ համագործակցության առաջմղման վերաբերյալ հարցեր: Անդրադարձ է կատարվել, քաղաքական, տնտեսական, մշակութային և տուրիստական ոլորտներում փոխգործակցության խթանման հեռանկարներին և հնարավորություններին: Մտքեր են փոխանակվել տարածաշրջանային իրողությունների և զարգացումների շուրջ: Այս համատեքստում նախագահ Վահագն Խաչատուրյանը վերահաստատել է Հայաստանի միանշանակ դիրքորոշումը՝ հասնել կայուն խաղաղության, որը հիմնված կլինի, երկրների տարածքային ամբողջականության, ինքնիշխանության, հարևանների հետ բարիդրացիության հիմնարար սկզբունքների վրա:
