Մայիսի 18-ին, ժամը 19.25-ին, «Հրազդան» բժշկական կենտրոնից ՆԳՆ ոստիկանության Կոտայքի մարզի օպերատիվ կառավարման կենտրոն հաղորդում էր ստացվել, որ հրազենային վնասվածքով Հրազդան քաղաքի Վանատուր թաղամասի սգո սրահի մոտից հիվանդանոց է տեղափոխվել անհայտ քաղաքացու դիակ: Ժամը 19.44-ին ՊԾ կարգախմբից էին հայտնել, որ Վանատուր թաղամասի տներից մեկի մոտ հրազենային կրակոցից մահացածի դիակ կա: Հաջորդ ահազանգը դարձյալ «Հրազդան» բժշկական կենտրոնից էր. «հրազենային վնասվածք» ախտորոշմամբ Վանատուր թաղամասի վերոհիշյալ տան մոտից շտապօգնության խումբը բուժօգնության էր տեղափոխել 21-ամյա երիտասարդի:

Մեկնած ոստիկանության օպերատիվ խումբը ձեռնարկված միջոցառումների արդյունքում փաստական տվյալներ էր ձեռք բերել, որ մայիսի 18-ի ժամը 19-ի սահմաններում Հրազդանի Վանատուր թաղամասի եկեղեցու մոտակայքում Միկրոշրջան թաղամասի բնակիչ 49-ամյա Արծրունի Ավետյանը իր մոտ ապօրինի պահվող «Մակարով» տիպի ատրճանակից կրակել էր համաքաղաքացի 48-ամյա Արսեն Հունանյանին, որը տեղում մահացել էր, իսկ ինքը «Օպելով» հեռացել էր դեպքի վայրից: Այնուհետև նրան հետապնդել էին և Վանատուր թաղամասի տներից մեկի մոտ կրակել ու սպանել էին, իսկ «Օպելի» վարորդ 21-ամյա երիտասարդը մարմնական վնասվածքով տեղափոխվել էր հիվանդանոց:

Դեպքի առթիվ Կոտայքի մարզային քննչական վարչությունում նախաձեռնվել էր քրեական վարույթ:
ՆԳՆ ոստիկանության ՔՈԳՎ, Կոտայքի մարզային վարչության, Հրազդանի, Կոտայքի, Նաիրիի, Չարենցավանի բաժինների և Կոտայքի մարզային քննչական վարչության ծառայողների համատեղ ձեռնարկած օպերատիվ-հետախուզական միջոցառումների և քննչական գործողությունների արդյունքում ձեռք են բերվել փաստական տվյալներ, որ մայիսի 18-ի ժամը 19-ի սահմաններում Երևանի բնակիչ 47 և 44 տարեկան երկու տղամարդ Հրազդանի Վանատուր թաղամասում գտնվող եկեղեցու բակում զրուցելիս են եղել նույն հոգեհանգստին մասնակցող Արսեն Հունանյանի հետ, և այդ ժամանակ Արծրունի Ավետյանը իր մոտ ապօրինի պահվող «էէ» տիպի ատրճանակով կրակոցներ էր արձակել Արսեն Հունանյանի ուղղությամբ՝ սպանելով նրան:

Այնուհետև 44 և 47 տարեկան վերոհիշյալ տղամարդիկ վերջինիս վարած «Տոյոտա» մեքենայով հետապնդել էին «Օպելին», որով փախուստի էր դիմել Արսեն Ավետյանը, ապա Վանատուր թաղամասի տներից մեկի մոտ 47-ամյա տղամարդը մեքենայով դիտավորությամբ հարվածել էր «Օպելին», իսկ երբ Արսեն Ավետյանն ու 21-ամյա վարորդը իջել էին մեքենայից, կրակոցներ էին արձակել նրանց ուղղությամբ: Արսեն Ավետյանը տեղում մահացել էր, իսկ 21-ամյա երիտասարդը ստացել էր հրազենային վնասվածք:

Ձեռնարկված օպերատիվ-հետախուզական միջոցառումների արդյունքում Երևանի բնակիչ 47 և 44 տարեկան վերոհիշյալ տղամարդիկ մայիսի 19-ին հայտնաբերվել, ձերբակալվել և տեղափոխվել են ոստիկանության Հրազդանի բաժին, ապա ներկայացվել են նախաքննական մարմին:

Մայիսի 22-ին 47-ամյա տղամարդուն մեղադրանք է առաջադրվել. նա կալանավորվել է:
