Մայիսի 8-ին նշվում է Կարմիր խաչի եւ Կարմիր մահիկի համաշխարհային օրը։ Այս մասին գրում է Calend-ը:
Այդ կապակցությամբ ԿԽՄԿ երեւանյան գրասենյակի տարածած հայտարարության մեջ ասվում է, որ ավելի քան 7 միլիարդ մարդ Կարմիր խաչի կամ Կարմիր մահիկի հետ կապված իր պատմությունն ունի: Գրեթե յուրաքանչյուր մարդ կամ իրեն ծանոթ ինչ-որ մեկը երբեւէ արյուն է հանձնել կամ առաջին օգնություն ցուցաբերելու խորհուրդներ է ստացել, կամ գուցե չի էլ իմացել, որ իրեն այցելած կամավորը տեղի Կարմիր խաչից կամ Կարմիր մահիկից է եղել։
Կարմիր խաչի եւ Կարմիր մահիկի՝ 17 միլիոնից ավելի կամավորներ եւ 80 միլիոնից ավելի անդամներ շփվում են իրենց ընկերների, հարազատների եւ հարեւանների հետ ամբողջ աշխարհում։ Նրանց մատուցած ծառայությունները դրականորեն են անդրադառնում իրենց շրջապատի յուրաքանչյուր անդամի կյանքի վրա։ Նրանք գործում են հիվանդանոցներում, դպրոցներում, համայնքային կենտրոններում եւ այլ հավաքատեղիներում, երբեմն էլ՝ հենց մարդկանց տներում՝ ամենուր տրամադրելով ծառայություններ, որոնք փոխում են մարդկանց ապրելակերպը, իսկ երբեմն էլ՝ փրկում նրանց կյանքը։
Կարմիր խաչի եւ Կարմիր մահիկի միջազգային շարժումը, որն իր մեջ ներառում է Կարմիր խաչի միջազգային կոմիտեն, Կարմիր խաչի եւ Կարմիր մահիկի ընկերությունների միջազգային ֆեդերացիան եւ Կարմիր խաչի եւ Կարմիր մահիկի 189 ազգային ընկերություններ, տոնում է մարդասիրական համաշխարհային գործունեության 150-ամյակը։ Տարեցտարի եւ օրեցօր, աշխարհով մեկ՝ Կարմիր խաչը եւ Կարմիր մահիկը համայնքային ծրագրերի միջոցով աջակցում են մարդկանց՝ ճգնաժամի պահին արձագանքելով եւ հույս ներշնչելով նրանց։
