Մինչ Փաշինյանը Ադրբեջանին է վերադարձնում նրա պահանջած 4 գյուղերը, երեկ հայտնի դարձավ, որ Արցախի նախկին պետնախարար Ռուբեն Վարդանյանը շուրջ երկու շաբաթ հացադուլ է հայտարարել Բաքվի բանտում՝ պահանջելով անհապաղ և անվերապահորեն ազատ արձակել իրեն և Բաքվում ապօրինաբար պահվող մյուս բանտարկյալներին։

Ռուբեն Վարդանյանն առևանգվել էր անցած տարվա սեպտեմբերին՝ հենց Հաքարիի կամրջից, և նրա դեմ ծանր մեղադրանք է առաջադրվել։ Ապրիլի 5-ից նա հացադուլ է հայտարարել, և դրանից անմիջապես հետո դադարեցրել են ընտանիքի հետ նրա հեռախոսազանգերը։

Ադրբեջանն այդ կերպ բացահայտ խախտում է միջազգային իրավունքի բոլոր նորմերը։ Բաքուն նաև հունվարին նախատեսված դատաքննությունն առանց պատճառի տեղափոխել էր մայիս։ Ռուբեն Վարդանյանի և մյուս ռազմագերիների հետ տեղի ունեցողը ընդհանրապես վկայում է, որ Ադրբեջանը ցանկանում է նվաստացուցիչ կերպով դատապարտել բոլորին, չի բացառվում, որ առաջիկայում նույնիսկ Հայաստանից պահանջի իրեն հանձնելի մի շարք այլ գործիչների. տասնյակ և հարյուրավոր մարդկանց դեմ քրեական վարույթներ են հարուցվել։

Հայաստանի իշխանությունները, ինչպես վայել է իրենց, վաղուց այլևս մոռացել են հայ ռազմագերիների մասին և նույնիսկ երկու շաբաթից ավելի իշխանությունից որևէ տեղեկություն չի եղել, որ Բաքվում նման բան է կատարվում, ավելին, երեկ Վարդանյան ընտանիքի կողմից հայտարարություն տարածելուց հետո էլ իշխանությունը չի բարեհաճել որևէ տեղություն հայտնել։
