Финляндия - единственная страна на восточной границе НАТО, в которой войска из других стран альянса не базируются на постоянной основе, и Хельсинки рассматривает различные сценарии, включая размещение постоянного контингента. Об этом вещателю Yle сообщил командующий Силами обороны Янне Яааккола.
«У нас пока нет решения на этот счет, но мы рассматриваем различные варианты: будь то расширенные учения, модель ротации или какой-то другой вид деятельности», - сказал Яааккола.
Он отметил, что Финляндия обладает относительно сильными собственными вооруженными силами и что сейчас у страны нет острой необходимости в войсках. Однако такая возможность не исключается. «Конечно, в возможной кризисной ситуации нам необходимо подкрепление, и мы хотим его получить», - сказал он.
Скорость прибытия войск или другой помощи, по его словам, зависит от политических решений. «Невозможно назвать конкретные сроки. Надо и впредь сохранять способность начинать оборону собственными силами и рассчитывать на помощь союзников на более позднем этапе», - считает командующий.
