Մենորկա կղզու Մաոնի մունիցիպալիտետի ռազմածովային բազան դարձել է Իսպանիայում ՆԱՏՕ-ի՝ Միջերկրական ծովում գործող նավերի համար նյութատեխնիկական ապահովման երրորդ բազան։ «Արմենպրես»-ի փոխանցմամբ՝ այդ մասին հայտնում է El Pais թերթը՝ վկայակոչելով կառավարական աղբյուրների։
Ըստ թերթի տեղեկատվության՝ 2023 թվականի ապրիլին Մադրիդը դաշինքին առաջարկել է Մաոնը՝ որպես «մշտական դիվանագիտական թույլտվությամբ նավահանգիստ», որպեսզի դաշնակիցների նավերը, որոնք մասնակցում են «Ծովային պահապան» գործողությանը, կարողանան այնտեղ կառանվել և խարիսխ ձգել։ Նշվում է, որ Մաոնի նավահանգիստն ունի համապատասխան բնութագրերը՝ որպես ՆԱՏՕ-ի նյութատեխնիկական ապահովման կետ։
Մյուս երկու բազաները գտնվում են Ռոտայում (Անդալուսիայի Ինքնավար Համայնք) և Կարտախենայում (Մուրսիայի Ինքնավար Համայնք):
ՆԱՏՕ-ի «Ծովային պահապան» գործողությունն սկսվել է 2016 թվականին: Դրա նպատակներն են, ի թիվս այլ բաների, Միջերկրական ծովում նավարկության ազատության ապահովումը և տարբեր սպառնալիքների կանխումը:
