Ջոնասը և Քրիսթին միշտ երազել են մեծ ընտանիք ունենալու մասին: Երբ նրանք սպասում էին իրենց առաջին բալիկին, բժիշկները ցավալի, անմխիթար վճիռ կայացրեցին: Հղիության 28-րդ շաբաթում ուլտրաձայնային հետազոտության արդյունքները երեխայի մոտ պտղի ջրգողություն ցույց տվեցին: Բժիշկները կարծում էին, որ դժվար թե, ինչ-որ բան կարողանա օգնել փոքրիկին:
Տղայի սիրտը մի փոքր մեծացած էր և թույլ: Ամեն ինչ մատնանշում էր, որ փոքրիկը մի քանի շաբաթից կմահանար: «Մենք արդեն համակերպվել էինք այն մտքի հետ, որ մեր փոքրիկի սիրտը կարող էր ամեն վայրկյան կանգ առնել», – պատմում է մայրիկը:
Ծնողներն ամեն օր աղոթում էին փոքրիկի փրկության համար, բայց նրա վիճակը գնալով վատանում էր: Հետո եկավ հերթական ուլտրաձայնային հետազոտության ժամանակը: Դևիդի մայրիկը հիշում է, որ այն անհավանական երկար է տևել: «Մենք զգում էինք, որ ինչ-որ բան այն չէ», – ասում է հայրիկը:
Նա շարունակում է. «Բժիշկը մտավ հիվանդասենյակ, և նրա առաջին բառերն էին. «Աստված անձամբ է խառնվել այս գործին»»: Շատ անսպասելի ձևով, ներքին օրգանների հեղուկն անհետացել էր:
Սրտի չափսն ու ձևը նույնպես նորմայի մեջ էր: Մինչ օրս բժիշկները չեն կարողանում բացատրել, թե ինչ էր դա, ինչ էր տեղի ունեցել: Ծնվեց Դևիդը՝ ամբողջովին առողջ երեխա, և նրա ծնողներն անչափ երջանիկ են:
