Ադրբեջանի նախագահ Իլհամ Ալիևը Բաքվի 11-րդ Գլոբալ համաժողովի բացման ժամանակ պնդում էր, թե Երևանն ու Բաքուն կարող էին խուսափել 44-օրյա պատերազմից։ Այս մասին հայտնում է «Ազատությունը»։

«2018-ին, երբ Հայաստանում կառավարության փոփոխություն եղավ, համաձայնության հասնելու հնարավորություն կար։ Մենք այն ժամանակ Հայաստանի նոր կառավարության կողմից վստահեցումներ ստացանք, որ նրանք կգործեն միջազգային իրավունքի նորմերին համապատասխան, և տարածքները կվերադարձվեն», - հայտարարում էր Ալիևը՝ դիմելով Ադրբեջանի կառավարության կողմից ֆինանսավորվող Նիզամի Գյանջևիի անվան հիմնադրամի խորհրդի անդամներին։

«Մենք նման սպասելիքներ ունեինք, և եթե այդ ժամանակ Հայաստանի նոր կառավարությունը գերադասեր գործել այնպես, ինչպես այժմ է գործում, ապա մեր ինքնիշխանությունն ուժով վերականգնելու կարիք չէր լինի», - ասաց Իլհամ Ալիևը՝ շարունակելով, թե համաձայնության հասնելու հնարավորությունները, սակայն, վերացան Հայաստանի վարչապետ Նիկոլ Փաշինյանի՝ 2019-ի օգոստոսին հնչեցրած «Արցախը Հայաստան է և վերջ» հայտնի կարգախոսից հետո։

«Այդ կարգախոսը նախ միջազգային իրավունքի նորմերի բացարձակ խախտում էր, բացի այդ՝ չափից ավելի մեծ հավակնոտ էր մի երկրի համար, որին թվում էր, թե ի վիճակի է հավերժ վերահսկել մեր տարածքները։ Այդ իսկ պատճառով մենք 2020 թվականի սեպտեմբերից նոյեմբեր ամիսներին ստիպված էինք նրանց դաս տալ», - հայտարարում էր Ալիևը։
