Меган Маркл, герцогиня Сассекская, заявила, что столкнулась с «жестокой» онлайн-травлей и оскорблениями, «основная масса» которых произошла во время ее беременности, сообщает CNN.

Выступая на сцене на мероприятии фестиваля South by Southwest (SXSW) в штате Техас, Маркл рассказала: «Сейчас я держусь на расстоянии от (социальных сетей) только ради собственного благополучия. Основная часть травли и оскорблений, с которыми я сталкивалась в социальных сетях и онлайн, была, когда я была беременна Арчи, Лили и сразу после их рождения».

Герцогиня родила Арчи Харрисона Маунтбеттена-Виндзора, своего первого ребенка от мужа, принца Гарри, 6 мая 2019 года. Затем 4 июня 2021 года у пары появилась Лилибет Диана Маунтбеттен-Виндзор.

В марте 2019 года британская королевская семья призвала пользователей социальных сетей проявлять «вежливость, доброту и уважение» при взаимодействии с ее онлайн-публикациями после неоднократных случаев онлайн-оскорблений в адрес Меган и Кейт, герцогини Кембриджской.

До этого Кенсингтонский дворец обратился к компаниям социальных сетей за помощью в борьбе с «бумом злоупотреблений», которые включали сексистские и расистские комментарии.

Меган и принц Гарри переехали вместе с Арчи в Калифорнию после ухода из британской королевской семьи в 2020 году и часто критиковали вмешательство прессы в их жизнь в Великобритании и США. В том же году пара подала иск в Калифорнию из-за фотографий папарацци их сына Арчи.
