Մարտի 9-ին է ծնվել առաջին տիեզերագնաց Յուրի Գագարինը

1934 թ. մարտի 9-ին է ծնվել ԽՍՀՄ տիեզերագնաց-օդաչու, գնդապետ, Խորհրդային Միության հերոս Յուրի Ալեքսեյի Գագարինը։
1951 թ. գերազանց ավարտել է արհեստավորների ուսումնարանը և Աշխատավոր երիտասարդների դպրոցը, 1955-ին` Սարատովի ինդուստրիալ տեխնիկումը։ Այս տեխնիկումում սովորելիս արել է առաջին քայլերն ավիացիայում։
1957-ին ավարտել է Չկալով քաղաքի Կլեմենտ Վորոշիլովի անվան օդաչուների I ռազմաավիացիոն ուսումնարանը, այնուհետև ծառայել է Կարմրադրոշ Հյուսիսային նավատորմի ՌՕՈՒ 122-րդ կործանիչ դիվիզիայի 769-րդ կործանիչ գնդում։ 1960-ին Գագարինը, որպես ամենատաղանդավոր և արի կործանիչ օդաչուներից մեկը, ընդունվեց տիեզերագնացների խումբ։ 1968-ին գերազանց ավարտեց Մոսկվայի Ն. Ժուկովսկու անվան ռազմաօդային ակադեմիան։
1961 թվականի ապրիլի 12-ին Գագարինն աշխարհում առաջինը թռավ երկրագնդին մոտ տիեզերային տարածություն «Վոստոկ-1» տիեզերանավ-արբանյակով և 1 ժամ 48 րոպեում պտտվեց երկրագնդի շուրջը։ Այն ժամանակ եղած տեխնիկական հնարավորությունները թույլ չէին տալիս տիեզերանավին վայրէջք կատարել երկրի վրա և այդ պատճառով Գագարինը 7 կիլոմետր բարձրության վրա կատապուլտով անջատվեց տիեզերանավից և իջավ գետնին։ Այս փաստը երկար ժամանակ թաքցվում էր համաշխարհային հասարակությունից։ Թռիչքի հաջող ավարտից հետո Գագարինը կատարելագործում էր իր ունակությունները, սովորեցնում և մարզում էր տիեզերագնացներին, ղեկավարում էր տիեզերանավերի թռիչքները, դրա հետ մեկտեղ կատարում էր մեծ հասարական-քաղաքական աշխատանք։
