Տեղական և օտարերկրյա բազմաթիվ վերլուծաբաններ վերջին շաբաթներին անընդհատ գուժում են ռազմական նոր էսկալացիայի հնարավորության մասին։ Տարածաշրջանում ընթացող պրոցեսները և աննախադեպ ակտիվությունը ցավոք հենց այդ կանխատեսման օգտին են խոսում։
Երեկ, Ադրբեջանի պաշտպանության նախարար Զաքիր Հասանովը մեկնել է Թուրքիա և հանդիպել Թուրքիայի պաշտպանության նախարար Յաշար Գյուլերի հետ՝ քննարկելով հետագա ռազմական համագործակցությունը։ Թուրքիան և Ադրբեջանն արդեն տևական ժամանակ Հայաստանից պահանջում են այսպես կոչված Զանգեզուրի միջանցքը՝ առանց խոչընդոտ երթևեկելու հնարավորությամբ։ Հայաստանը, որ հայտարարել է, թե որևէ միջանցքային տրամաբանություն գոյություն չունի, փորձում է դիվերսիֆիկացնել իր անվտանգային համակարգը։ Ի վերջո Հավաքական Արևմուտքից առանձնապես հույս նույնիսկ Նիկոլ Փաշինյանի իշխանությունը չունի, հասկանում է, որ Արևմուտքը «վրդովված» հայտարարություններից այն կողմ չի անցնելու, իսկ Ֆրանսիայից և հեռավոր այլ երկրներից ստացած սպառազինութունն էլ ավելի շուտ քարոզչական, քան պաշտպանական նպատակներ ունի։
Այս ֆոնին Հայաստանի պաշտպանության նախարար Սուրեն Պապիկյանը մեկնել է Իրան, որտեղ նրան ընդունել են հանդիսավոր արարողությամբ։ Պապիկյանը հանդիպել է Իրանի պաշտպանության նախարար Աշթիանիի, գլխավոր շտաբի պետ Բաղերիի հետ, քննարկել ընդհուպ ռազմական համագործակցության հնարավորությունները։ Հայ-իրանական ռազմական համագործակցության մասին, թերևս մինչ օրս որևէ տեղեկություն չկա և պաշտոնական հաղորդագրության մեջ նման նշում անելը ինչ-որ բավականին լուրջ զարգացումների մասին է վկայում։ Իրանը հայտնել է, որ Հայաստանի տարածքային ամբողջականությունը իր համար կարմիր գիծ է և չի բացառվում, որ Հայաստանը փորձում է ստանալ Իրանի հնարավոր աջակցությունը սպասվող էսկալացիայի ժամանակ Թեհրանից օգնության ակնկալիքով։
