Հարավային Կովկասի անվտանգությունն ու զարգացումը շատ կարևոր են ԵՄ-ի համար, այդ պատճառով Եվրամիությունն աջակցություն է հայտնել ՀՀ-ին և Ադրբեջանին` լուծելու երկու երկրների միջև եղած երկարատև կոնֆլիկտը։
Անթալիայում ընթացքող դիվանագիտական ֆորումի ժամանակ այս մասին ասաց Հարավային Կովկասում և Վրաստանում ճգնաժամի հարցերով ԵՄ հատուկ ներկայացուցիչ Տոյվո Կլաարը։
«Խաղաղությունը պատերազմի բացակայությունը չէ, դա մի մեծ ու մանրակրկիտ համաձայնագիր է, որը պետք է բոլոր երկրներին երկարատև ու ամուր փոխհարաբերություններ կառուցելու հիմք հանդիսանա։ ԵՄ–ն երկարատև հեռանկարով ներգրավված է Հարավային Կովկասի կայունության ու անվտանգության գործում։
Խաղաղությունը պետք է ներառի ու ապահովի սահմանների ապաշրջափակումը Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի միջև, ներառյալ՝ Ադրբեջանի հիմնական մասի կապը Նախիջևանին»,– ասաց Կլաարը։
Անդրադառնալով Թուրքիայի դերակատարմանը`նա նշեց, որ այս երկիրն իսկապես հետաքրքրված է Հարավային Կովկասում խաղաղության հաստատման հարցում։
«Որպես տարածաշրջանի առաջատար երկիր` Թուրքիան ցույց է տալիս իր հետաքրքրվածությունը ՀՀ–ի և Ադրբեջանի միջև։ Այս երեք երկրները կարող են նպաստել տարածաշրջանի զարգացմանը»,– ընդգծեց Կլաարը։
