ԵՄ դիվանագիտական ծառայության ղեկավար Ջոզեպ Բորելը ԵՄ-Կենտրոնական Ասիա տրանսպորտային ներդրումային ֆորումում հայտարարել է, որ երկրների միջև սահմանները պետք է  թափանցիկ դարձնել, որպեսզի դրանք գոյություն ունենան, սակայն մենք դրանք չտեսնենք:

«Այսօր մենք շատ ենք խոսում սահմանների մասին։ Սահմանները խախտվում են, սահմանները դիմակայության առաջնագիծն են: Բայց սահմանները նաև պատմության թողած սպիներն են Երկրի վրա։ Պատմությունը կերտվել է սահմաններով, երբեմն կրակով և կռիվներով: Մենք պետք է հաղթահարենք սահմանները: Մենք պետք է սահմաններից այն կողմ գնանք, որպեսզի շփվենք մյուս կողմի ժողովրդի հետ։ Պետք է սահմանները դարձնել թափանցիկ. դրանք կլինեն, բայց մենք դրանք չենք տեսնի։ Դա այն է, ինչ տեղի է ունենում այստեղ՝ Եվրամիությունում», - ասել է Բորելը։

Նա մանրամասնել է, որ Եվրոպայում սահմաններ կան, բայց մարդիկ դրանք չեն տեսնում, քանի որ կարողանում են անխոչընդոտ մի երկրից մյուսը գնալ:

Բորելի կարծիքով՝ սահմանները պետք է դարձնել թափանցիկ, որպեսզի մարդիկ, ապրանքներն ու ծառայությունները հնարավորինս հեշտությամբ հասնեն մի երկրից մյուսը:

«Մենք պետք է շատ ավելին ներդնենք Եվրոպայի և Կենտրոնական Ասիայի միջև ֆիզիկական կապերի մեջ, որպեսզի թույլ տանք մեզ հաղթահարել անցյալի կախվածությունները, դիվերսիֆիկացնել և գտնել նոր այլընտրանքներ տրանսպորտի, էներգիայի և մատակարարման շղթաների համար: Այն նոր շունչ կհաղորդի հնագույն Մետաքսի ճանապարհին՝ կապվելով նաև Թուրքիայի և Հարավային Կովկասի մեր գործընկերների հետ: Սա մեզ համար մարտահրավերն է։ Այդ իսկ պատճառով մենք այստեղ ենք՝ փնտրելու ֆինանսական ռեսուրսներ, որոնք կարող են դա իրականություն դարձնել:

Սա մարտահրավեր է, որի համար և՛ Եվրոպան, և՛ Կենտրոնական Ասիան պետք է ամրապնդեն ճկունությունը և դիվերսիֆիկացնեն քաղաքական և տնտեսական հարաբերությունները», - ասել է Բորելը։
