Իսրայելի պաշտպանության բանակը շաբաթ օրը՝ հունվարի 20-ին, շարունակել է զանգվածային հարվածներ հասցնել Գազայի հատվածի ողջ տարածքում։ Ռազմական ուժերի զգալի մասը կենտրոնացած է Խան Յունիս քաղաքի շրջակայքի հարավում, որտեղ իսրայելական զինվորականներն ուժեղացրել են իրենց հարձակումը արմատական իսլամիստական ՀԱՄԱՍ շարժման դեմ:
Իսրայելի պաշտպանության բանակի տվյալներով՝ հրթիռակոծվել է Խան Յունիսում գտնվող ռազմական համալիրը, «չեզոքացվել են հրթիռահրետանային կայանքները և գետնի տակ պահվող պայթուցիկ սարքեր են հայտնաբերվել»։ Ինտենսիվ մարտեր են գրանցվել նաև Գազայի հատվածի հյուսիսում գտնվող Ջաբալիա քաղաքի շրջանում։
Գազայի հատվածի առողջապահության նախարարությունը հայտնել է, որ վերջին 24 ժամվա ընթացքում իսրայելական հարվածների հետևանքով զոհվել է 165 մարդ, վիրավորվել՝ 280-ը։ Զոհվածների թիվը հաշվելիս տարբերություն չի դրվում զինյալների և խաղաղ բնակիչների միջև։
