Հունվարի 13-ին Հայ Առաքելական Սուրբ Եկեղեցին նշում է Քրիստոսի Անվանակոչության տոնը

Աշխարհի մի շարք երկրներում, ավանդույթի համաձայն, հունվարի 13-ի լույս 14-ի գիշերը նշվում է հին տոմարով Նոր տարին: Հին տոմարով Նոր տարին Հայ Առաքելական եկեղեցին տոնում է որպես Տիրոջ Անվանակոչության օր: Հունվարի 13-ին Հայաստանի բոլոր եկեղեցիներում սուրբ պատարագ է մատուցվում, իսկ նախորդ օրը երեկոյան ժամերգության ավարտին կատարվում է նախատոնակի արարողություն:
Ըստ հրեական օրենքի` ծննդյան 8-րդ օրը Հիսուս, ինչպես նորածին ամեն մի արու զավակ, թլփատվեց և անվանակոչվեց: Այդ մասին վկայում է Ս. Ղուկաս Ավետարանիչը. «Եվ երբ ութ օրերը լրացան, և նա թլփատվեց, նրա անունը Հիսուս դրվեց, ինչպես հրեշտակի կողմից կոչվել էր, երբ դեռ չէր հղացվել մոր որովայնում» (Ղուկ. 2:21): «Հիսուս» եբրայերեն բառ է, որ նշանակում է փրկիչ:
Ս. Գաբրիել հրեշտակը, Սուրբ Աստվածամորն ավետելով Աստծո Որդու Ծննդյան մասին, պատվիրեց Մանկան անունը Հիսուս դնել: Այս մասին կրկին վկայում է նույն Ավետարանիչը. «Եվ ահա դու կհղիանաս և կծնես մի որդի և նրա անունը Հիսուս կդնես» (Ղուկ. 1:31): «Հիսուս» անվանը զուգահեռ Փրկչին տրվում է նաև «Քրիստոս» անունը: Այն հունարեն բառ է, որ նշանակում է «Օծյալ» և համապատասխանում է եբրայերենի «Մեսիա»-ին:
Անվանակոչության տոնը Հայաստանյայց Առաքելական Սուրբ Եկեղեցին տոնում է Քրիստոսի ծննդից ութ օր հետո: Ծննդյան ութերորդ օրը Հովսեփն ու Մարիամը, որպես բարեպաշտ հրեաներ, մանկանը տանում են տաճար, հրեական օրենքի համաձայն թլպատում Հովհաննես Մկրտչի հոր` Զաքարիայի ձեռքով, և անունն էլ դնում Հիսուս: Հրեաները սովորություն ունեին արու զավակներին ծնվելուց ութ օր հետո թլպատել, որպեսզի նրանք ստանան աստվածային ուխտի կնիքը: Այդ պահին կատարվում էր նաև մանկան անվանակոչությունը:
Հունվարի 13-ը համարժեք է դեկտեմբերի 31-ին: Հուլիոս կայսեր սահմանած Հուլյան տոմարից հետո նոր` Գրիգորյան տոմարը, հաստատվել է 1582 թ. հոկտեմբերին: Հռոմի Գրիգոր 13-րդ պապը նկատել է, որ Հուլյան (հին) տոմարը մինչև 16-րդ դարը տվել է 10 օրվա տարբերություն: Այդ տարբերությունը հայտնի է դարձել գարնանային գիշերահավասարից: Գրիգոր 13-րդ պապը հմուտ աստղաբաշխների, ժամանակի հայտնի աստղագետների և մաթեմատիկոսների օգնությամբ հաստատել է նոր տոմարը:
