Կյանքից հեռացել է ՀՀ ԳԱԱ ակադեմիկոս, գիտության և կրթության երախտավոր, գիտության վաստակավոր գործիչ, ֆիզիկամաթեմատիկական գիտությունների դոկտոր, պրոֆեսոր, միջազգային ճանաչում ունեցող մաթեմատիկոս Նորայր Հունանի Առաքելյանը:
Նորայր Առաքելյանը ծնվել է 1936թ․՝ Արթիկի շրջանի Մեղրաշեն գյուղում։ 1954-1958թթ․ սովորել է Երևանի պետական համալսարանի ֆիզիկամաթեմատիկական ֆակուլտետում։ 1971թ. պաշտպանել է դոկտորական ատենախոսություն, 1989թ. նրան շնորհվել է պրոֆեսորի կոչում: 1974թ. ընտրվել է ՀՀ ԳԱԱ թղթակից անդամ, իսկ 1990թ.՝ ՀՀ ԳԱԱ ակադեմիկոս:
Նորայր Առաքելյանի աշխատանքային գործունեությունը կապված է Հայաստանի Հանրապետության Գիտությունների ազգային ակադեմիայի և Երևանի պետական համալսարանի հետ: 1989-1991թթ․, 1997-2006թթ. նա եղել է ՀՀ ԳԱԱ Մաթեմատիկայի ինստիտուտի տնօրեն, 1991-1993թթ.՝ Երևանի պետական համալսարանի ռեկտոր, 2006-2016թթ․՝ ՀՀ ԳԱԱ Մաթեմատիկական և տեխնիկական գիտությունների բաժանմունքի ակադեմիկոս-քարտուղար, ՀՀ ԳԱԱ նախագահության անդամ: 2004թ. Նորայր Առաքելյանն ընտրվել է Գերմանիայի Տրիի համալսարանի պատվավոր դոկտոր։
Նորայր Առաքելյանն ակնառու ներդրում ունի կոմպլեքս անալիզի և մոտավորությունների տեսության բնագավառներում։ Նրա կողմից կատարված հիմնարար հետազոտությունները ճանաչում են գտել միջազգային հանրության կողմից: Մեծ է նրա ներդրումը Հայկական մաթեմատիկական դպրոցի կայացման և միջազգային հեղինակության արժանանալու գործում:
Գիտության մեջ ունեցած նշանակալի ավանդի համար ակադեմիկոս Նորայր Առաքելյանն արժանացել է բազմաթիվ պարգևների, որոնցից են՝ ՀՀ գիտության վաստակավոր գործիչ (2003թ.), Սուրբ Մեսրոպ Մաշտոցի շքանշան (2013թ.)։
Գիտությունների ազգային ակադեմիայի գիտական կոլեկտիվը ցավակցում է ակադեմիկոս Նորայր Առաքելյանի հարազատներին և գործընկերներին: Նորայր Առաքելյանի հիշատակը միշտ վառ կմնա նրան ճանաչողների սրտերում:
Նորայր Առաքելյանի հոգեհանգիստը տեղի կունենա դեկտեմբերի 29-ին՝ ժամը 17:00-20:00-ին, «ԼյուԱր» սգո սրահում (Երևան, Սիլիկյան խճուղի, 18 շենք)։
