Ասել, որ Ռուսաստանը չի պաշտպանել Հայաստանին, ենթադրում եք, որ պետք է Ռուսաստանը ուղիղ հակահարվա՞ծ տար: Այս մասին Հայաստանի հանրային հեռուստաընկերությանը տված հարցազրույցում հայտարարել է Ռուսաստանի դեսպան Սերգեյ Կոպիրկինը՝ անդրադառնալով դիտարկմանը, որ Ռուսաստանը չի կատարել Հայաստանի հանդեպ իր ստանձնած պարտավորությունները, երբ Ադրբեջանը հարձակվել էր Հայաստանի տարածքի վրա:
«Միաժամանակ, ՌԴ-ն անտարբեր էլ չէր, քայլեր էին ձեռնարկվել եւ ձեռնարկվում են բարձրագույն մակարդակով ուղղված հետագա լարման կանխարգելմանը, իրավիճակը հսկողության տակ պահելուն, որպեսզի հենքերը չխաթարվեն խաղաղ կարգավորման գործընթացի: Դա է եղել եւ հիմա էլ դա է դերը Ռուսաստանի տարածաշրջանում: Ես չեմ լսել գեթ մեկ հայտարարություն, որը կարող էր դիտվել որպես ազդակ, որը կասեր, որ Ռուսաստանը հրաժարվում է Հայաստանի հետ իր դաշնակցային հարաբերություններից»,-ասաց ՌԴ դեսպանը:
Դիտարկմանը, որ եւ Իրնը, եւ ԱՄՆ-ն հայտարարություններ են արել, որով ընդգծում են, որ Հայաստանի տարածքային ամբողջականությունը կարմիր գիծ է, եւ միակ երկիրը, որ նման բան չի ասում եւ չի սաստում Ադրբեջանին, Ռուսաստանն է, Կոպիրկինն արձագանքեց. «Իմ կարծիքով, հրապարակային հայտարարությունները չի կարելի դիտարկել համատեքստից դուրս: Այստեղ չկան իրանցի զինվորականներ, կան ռուս խաղաղապահներ: ՌԴ-ն չի կարող աչհամարհել այդ փաստը: Ռուսաստանի համար կարեւոր է, որ իրավիճակը մնա վերահսկողության ներքո, խաղաղ կարգավորման հենքերը չպետք է խախտվեն:
Ռուսաստանն իր դաշնակցային պարտավորություններից չի հեռանում, բայց իր հայտարարություններում եւ գործողություններում ՌԴ-ն պոպուլիստ լինել չի կարող»:
