Армия США получит новую штурмовую винтовку в 2024 году

В наступающем году Пентагон получит новую штурмовую винтовку в рамках программы Next Generation Squad Weapon — «Оружие подразделения нового поколения», сообщают американские СМИ.
Соответствующая программа была запущена в 2017 году для замены винтовки М4 и пулемета М249.
Семейство AR-15 — М16 и разные варианты М4 — почти 50 лет являлось основным оружием американского солдата. Ожидается, что новое оружие будет способно пробивать бронежилеты на дальних дистанциях.
Конструкторы предложили несколько вариантов. В частности, американское отделение немецкой компании SIG Sauer работает над производством автомата XM7 с калибром 277 FURY (6,8х51 миллиметра). Такой патрон обладает повышенной энергией, благодаря чему он способен преодолевать препятствия, которые меняли траекторию старого калибра 5,45. Это подтвердили в ходе испытания. Но за счет таких размеров винтовка стала значительно тяжелее (3,8 килограмма против 2,88).
Новая винтовка также получит систему управления огнем XM157 от компании Vortex Optcis: прицел с переменным увеличением, лазерный дальномер, баллистический вычислитель и компас. Разработчики заявляют, что с такой комплектацией военнослужащему будет достаточно навестись на цель и нажать на кнопку.
